Floridian, this sure looks like a dandelion seed head, and when I visited the entry, the leaf and structure of the plant looks quite a bit like dandelion. The flower is different...very interesting!

Floridian: Are they invasive, that is do they self-seed readily like a dandelion?

Weez I'm not sure how invasive they are. Guess I'll find out come spring!! I love these plants. I transplanted a yellow and a white into one of my flowerbeds in March or April and they bloomed for months. Now, together, they are the size of a dinner plate. I have so many weeds that make up my "lawn", a dandelion like this is no problem...LOL! These grow along open roadsides all over our area..folks just mow them.
