As soon as ready you all will get the link. Shure !!!

The best new of today: The first seedling from a HG- Pollination is germinated......JUCHHU. He is growing a root out the seed, have covered with soil again.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

That is great news Ludger. Hope it is a beauty when it blooms.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Congratulations Ludger!! I'm glad to know that I'm not the only impatient one and that others dig in the soil to check on seeds too.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Oh Ludger! Congratulations!!!!

Ludger,
Please keep us updated on the HG seed pod....I'd settle for a flower less lone a seed pod. LOL

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

I am with Gloria, a flower every year would be nice. Good luck Ludger on your cross.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

so what am I missing here? It is a HG and what is the other parent of this seedling??? thanks

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Harenhauser Garten, its a double orange, hard to get to flower, no one here has had a pod until this one that Ludger has. Kell, you have mail about this one.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

i just now found my first bud on HG!

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Ludger, I hope you get a special beauty from your cross.

Arlene, How exciting . . a bud on HG. I sure hope it stays and you get that elusive bloom that no one could get this summer.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Arlene ,thats GGGRRREEEAAATTTTT!!!!

Arlene,
I sure hope yours blooms....keep us up dated.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Arlene, keeping my fingers crossed for you!!

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

I've got HG in the GH and I'll give it one more year to flower. If it doesn't flower this summer it will go.I would love to see just one flower on it.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

it really surprised me, i have been chopping and chopping on HG, thinking i'd get rid of it all. now i have to decide whether to put it in a pot or not, a hard freeze will be coming. i decided to let my moths pollinate culebra, they are much more experienced than i am.!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

arlene, any seeds at all on culebra would be interesting, especially with all the good daddies you have in your yard.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Arlene.........you are a natural born gardener............ and a gentle soul!! If I were a bug i would want to live in your yard!! heck, I wouldn't mind living in it as a human! can't wait for pics on this HG bud!!!

so I am still missing something.............. but Ludger said his seedling is growing. So he had a seed that he got from a pod on his HG. SO the HG was the seedling's Mom and who was the father??? No one else asked this so I am sure I must be missing something here!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

You aren't missing anything Kell. I don't think Ludger has told us who the daddy is. I just hope it grows and he gets a great looking plant out of it. Sure glad Arlene has a bud too. I don't recall seeing any blooms from anyone here in the US from HG this year. When it got cold and I moved mine into the garage, the buds fell off. They were probably a week from openeing. Very disappointing. How's the new greenhouse working for you Kell?

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Congratulations Ludger!! waiting with bated breath to see the results...

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Brugie, mine weren't that big, but more than itty bitties and they fell off when I brought it in. Big disappointment

Congrats Ludger, now can you tell us which brug you crossed HG with or is it a secret?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh it may be a secret!!! OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhh
I am so slow at times........LOL

It is doing great Brugie except for the slit my DH made for the door. I have to do a search for door zippers on Daves and buy one of those. My DH does not get that with the door open the GH is useless in a frost.

oh Brugie, what a heartbreak. On GW someone.....Tajia I think her name is............. said that they grow 10 feet in Ca...they like the weather.....and are all over............but I think she was talking about Southern Ca. for I sure have never seen any 10 feet ones here.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I think it's in Southern California. It would have to be in a frost free area for sure.

Kell, go to your local hardware store. Ask if they have tarp zippers, that's what I got. But you need to put it on first, then cut the opening.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Kell, I got my zipper that I use inside my greenhouse to split into two parts, from Charley's Greenhouse Supply. They are on the web. It was about 10 or 12 bucks. Of course there is always that dreaded postage, but I bought a bunch of stuff to make it worthwhile.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL......that is what I do also Brugie...........I need just 1 thing but buy tons to make it worth while. my DH is still trying to figure out that logic!!! why spend $12 on what you need when you can spend $100 on what you do not!!

thanks jeanne for reminding me without the search what I need.......... and need soon!!! a tarp zipper and thermometers!!! I want to prove to my DH the temp inside the hoop house is the same as the temp outside the hoophouse if hte door is a flapping in the breeze!!!

Kell,
This is not a very good picture but here is an example of a Brug in San Diego...took this picture last May.

oh thanks Glory, do they have them growing all over???

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Sorry,
please go back to top of this thread.

I did not tell you that I have seeded out ( to sow ) a seed from a HG.
I told you that a HG-Pollination is germinating.

It means that the father ( HG ) has a child.

I pollinated a Brug with HG Pollen and this seeds I sowed.

The seedpod at my HG still not ripe.....I wait, can tell...

Very sorry for this missunderstanding.

But I hope also this seedlings if they will flower ones day
will bring good new flowers and I will share with you at once.

Kell it is a secret!!! Smile

Go back to a thread some days ago.
Anyone asked Monika for both parents and anyone wondered if this would be fair.
I told you its HG Pollination, will give more informations later. Mean this in best way.
......
Letīs wait what will happen next days or months.

Oh I am sorry Ludger. I do not think in terms of professional hybridizers. But after reading all that on the ABADS thread, I can see why such secrets must be kept!!! LOL It is all too much for me.

However I will hold you to sharing it with me at once, even if just over the internet!!! LOL Best of luck with it!!! I can't wait!!!

Smile Ludger!

I am slowly beginning to catch up too. Well, that`s a kind of progress :)

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Wishing you lots of luck Ludger.
