heatmat idea

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I know somewhere someone had asked about a heatmat idea. I just remembered this. When we used to raise puppies, we had whelping mats, they were rubber mats with heat coils in them. I think some of the pig farmers use them too. Another idea was the heat mats that go under the reptile cages. We had one for our Iguana. Sometimes you can find those when you can't find real plant type heat mats.

susie, my baby seedlings did fine through our weather the last two nights, 34-36. didn't knock off my buds either. those critter mats sound like a good idea.

I just started a brug seed, without heat. Butterfly x Pink Beauty/Rosamond.

Oh - I know they can be raised without them, I have raised several seedlings, I just believe they would germinate and grow faster with one. I may look into get one of some kind this year. I try to keep the gh at 55, but they probably would do better at at least 70.

I have a heat mat, but thought I would try one seed without it, and it started. Whoopee...

Also, check out Home Depot. That is where I got mine a few years back. They start to get in the seed planting supplies about January. Also another great site to purchase items from at a VERY resonable price is www.frostproof.com not sure if they have the seed heat mats- worth a try. I know they have the cheapest pruners around.

Kell, I was raised on a farm then moved to the city when I was barely 18. Bill and I raised first Irish Setters, then moved to Dobermans. I raised and showed rabbits, was interested in daylilies and hybridized hundreds till I found brugmansias. No time for all the other hobbies now, just the brugmansias and other tropical plants I love.
