Those are pretty and really different. I have seen them here in the grocery store also. I have gold balls for my Christmas tree so the color is right for here. :)

How absolutely stunning!! Hubby and I really love Christmas Cactus. One of our favorite plants. I saw some in WalMart the other night for $1.97. Maybe the 3th of next month.

Great color. I've had several Thanksgiving cactus, but never a Christmas cactus.

I have never heard of Thanksgiving Cactus brugie.......are you sure they were not just early comers to the party?
Very pretty Kyle. I just bought one for my office..........a little darker than that!

They had them at Walmart tonight.

Very Pretty! It is a Thanksgiving Cactus isn't it? They have the "points" on the leaves instead of being rounded like the Christmas Cactus. I never knew there was a difference until my mom was here 2 weeks ago admiring my "Thanksgiving Cactus's", that I thought were Christmas Cactus's, LOL. I've got a hot pink and a white with pink busting with blooms right now, I've never seen them locally in any other colors.

I have seen them in salmon, pink, almost red, white, white/pink, gold, tan, and some shades of these. I love these plants since they can take abuse of not being watered while I am busy with life. LOL

Fayette, MO(Zone 6a)

I absolutely love these plants. I have a small start of the gold one as pictured above. I traded with someone here on Dave's. I have several different colors of the "Thanksgiving cactus". White with pink, fushia, hot pink, reddish. Now I will be looking for tan.. didn't know there was a tan.. I also have a couple , what I would refer to as Christmas Cactus.. Their sections are smaller and like Jody says, not as pointy .
I set mine under a bush in the yard in the summer and only water if it gets really dry. They always seem to do fine.
I have kept mine a little too warm in my plant room. I think the blooms last longer if they are in a cooler room. But the blooms always start at a time of year when I missing my outdoor bloomers.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I have never heard of Thanksgiving cactus..... just Easter and Christmas. so are these really different kinds or does it have to do with what time of year they are being forced to bloom?

I found one!!!!

Please disregard my picture.

There's two different species Kell. Well there's probably more than that... Indashade's description under the Christmas cactus entry sums it up pretty good. http://plantsdatabase.com/b/Cactaceae/Schlumbergera///

This plant was sooooo pretty, I had to have me one of this color. Found one for sale at The Home Depot here in Orlando for ~$3 in a 4" pot. It's happily blooming :)

Here's my little baby. I was impressed that it hasn't dropped a single bud since I bought it. Usually when conditions change (light, moisture, etc.) these guys drop some buds. My pink one has only small buds on it. Probably won't bloom until Jan./Feb. again.
