That is really a beauty!
Hey everyone,
sorry I have been under the weather for the last week or so and am just now getting into things again. Cherokee came from a friend of mine in Fl. I haven't heard from her in years and this year I only had a couple of cuttings that I took from mine. Dee, I sent you a couple out yesterday. Gloria, it is so nice to hear from you again. Sorry I haven't been able to keep in touch like we did before, but I promised myself that I'll spend a little time on here at least every other day; I don't want to lose touch with all my wonderful gardening friends. I think something must have happened to my friend as she was the one person I did stay in touch with. I know her husband wasn't too keen on the computer and she was sick the last time I heard from her. She got the Cherokee from a friend who lived close to her and it really is a beautiful plant. I intend to baby mine more next year and maybe between the ones of us who have it we can share with a few others. Gloria, if you'll remind me, I'll try to get you some new cuttings in the spring if you would still like one. Hibiscus, I think I traded you your cutting; just because I have never seen it offered by anyone else. And everyone I have mentioned it to usually doesn't know anything about it. Hope everyone is doing okay and that you have very happy holidays.
Hi Stormy - glad to see you back with us!!
Thanks Azalea,
It is nice to be back. I'll try to stay in touch with everyone as much as possible. Off to bed now. You have a good night.

Pretty, nice deep color.
Jackie,
Glad to see you are ok. I really was hoping to get the parentege on Cherokee, in case I try to cross it with anything. Maybe someone, someday will step up and tell.
Thanks...

Gosh! That's a sight for sore eyes, just lovely!
We are also COLD here. Suppose to get six inches of snow as well.
Your 'Cherokee' is really petty. Love the colour (o:
And its name is part of my ancestry. Like that, too!
I must have missed this one first time around. It is a beauty....sure is, yes indeed!
Gloria....you have been holding out on me......LOL! SO pretty!
WOW! How did I miss this beauty? Hope you will save some of the seeds from the flower pods. I would love to try and grow it.
Thanks for "bumping" the posted message. We ALL needed it during this cold snowy winter weather!
Hi everyone,
Cherokee is a cross of Dr. Seuss and Equador Pink with Equador Pink being the mother plant. My friend in Fl., shared it with me 4 years ago and she said her next door neighbor was the one who crossed the two to get it. Since she was a full-blooded Cherokee, she decided to give it her heritage name. I think she did a great job of it. I remember reading one of the post on here that Vicki Harding was claiming it as one of hers. I am with everyone else when it comes to Vicki, I think she just takes alot of things as being hers. I have traded cuttings of Cherokee as well as selling them in several states, with Tennessee being one of them); now I am wondering if mayhbe Vicki got a cutting from someone I traded with. As far as I know, I was the only one my friend had sent a cutting too. I haven't heard from her lately, I think she may have gotten sicker than she was before and just gave up on the whole email thing. I plan to make a trip to Fl. this summer and look her up. She was the kind of friend you hate to lose touch with.
Hope everyones plants did okayh during the freeze we had. I lost most of my begonias, but I think that is about all I lost. The greenhouse just couldn't stand up to the low, low temps here.
Also hope this helps with some of you who are wanting to cross the Cherokee with other plants and I just you luck on doing so.
Since this got bumped up again--(which I'm not complaining about) I would like to me the first in line if anyone wants to sell one of these in the near future --say in the next year or so.
it's listed in the abads gallery as a whole pack of seeds that vh sold/traded and that the real Cherokee hasn't been selected yet. hmm.....
Jackie, would love to get a cutting of this too.
