If you got gingers in the co-op and didn't get the little info sheet, please email me. Several of the gingers were dormant, they look like little brown plugs of dirt. They aren't dead, they are dormant. Don't throw them away. Store them as is in the little bundles or put them in pots of DRY potting soil. They need to rest, this is normal. The others will go dormant also, keep them dry till spring, they will grow again. It's also important to keep them from freezing. Hope this clears up any confusion that may have resulted from my failure to get an info sheet in every package.
Important info about ginger co-op
Thanks Susie. Jim also sent a copy of the instructions to me.
When I opened the packs, my 3 yr old daughter got this look on her face like "Oh,no! They aren't any good." Then she patted me on the arm to comfort me. I just cracked up laughing at her. She is into the plants almost as bad as I am. She loves to go to the nursery and look at plants. I have to share all of my plants too. It took some explaining to get her to let me keep the "dead" plants. :-)
GL, that is so funny!! My DH had the same expression the day this shipment arrived. He called me and said "honey, you need to call the company, they sent dead plants" I laughed, I also quickly asked if he watered them and when he said "no" I told him not to water the "dead" ones, lol.
Hi Cala,
Have you mailed out all the gingers? Just wondering if I am one of the ones you are waiting on. Oh, by the way, I did find those 'white towers' seeds. Brenda
Brenda, packing yours this morning. Haven't forgotten you.
