This flower finally opened. This is the fifth day since the bud popped and it's every bit of 13.5 inches!! Do you suppose it'll stay white? It's really blowing here today so I don't have high hopes for the blooms lasting. Thanks once again Arlene!!
JYS Bloomed
Stacey it will probably stay white. it is a nice big brug! it's awfully windy here too. did you look at the pic of camille? i think RT-Not is Camille, i really do. i'm starting a bunch of pink babies, so if you want to replace your whites later, let me know!
arlene, where is the pic of Camille, have to make a decision today on whether to keep it or not.
it's on lbj's site. i think a google brugmansia camille will bring it up. it looks exactly like rosa traum NOT to me, as hard as pics are this sure looks like a match to me. then again, i haven't kept many whites, cause i know i'll always get white seedlings!!!! i like the long, candida/versi whites best.
think I'll keep the Gloria aurea x s. white seedling, more to my liking. thanks!!
Hi Arlene! I did see the picture of Camille, it's beautiful. Mine does have a nice big seed pod on it. I wonder which of your brugs is the proud daddy??!! LOL How will I know when to pick the pod?
Oh and I took your advice and now have a Whiskers that Pete(Irish) offered in a trade!
you will absolutely LOVE whiskers. my pods take 3 months, roughly 12 weeks, at least the ones so far, that's a good guess. the peduncle, the part that connects the flower to the stalk, will turn yellow, and the pod will start to yellow too. you leave it on as long as you can stand it after that. remember my pink beauty/rosamond pods, turning yellow and mushy when you were here?
Arlene,
I think it's Camille, too.
I have been over and over my pix and LBJ's .. and both look same.
I would venture they are.
RT NOT ..is NOT a usual white brug, for sure!
