Sang bud,need pollen

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

My sang has now set more buds, the old ones fell off when I dug it up to bring it in the Green House for the winter.

I have heard that they can be fertilized with the same sang, but I would like to cross it with something different.

I got it from Shirley(I love you Shirley)I think it was a seedling so I guess its one of the regular red ones.
Does anyone have pollen they can donate,so I can maybe get something special?

CC, this one had to either come from seed I planted from Banana Tree Farms or from Liz. She can probably look at it and recognize hers from the leaves. I hope it is one of hers. Mine all croaked in the heat. Good luck. If you don't get any other pollen, please pollinate it back to itself. I'd try one more time with seed only this time I'd not give in and would keep it in the house or total shade.

The new leaves don't look as serrated as the old ones did(all the leaves fell off at the same time as the buds)

It has a great tree shape to it and I really love it.

It also seemed to take all the heat pretty good,my last one started to croak everytime it got in the 80's ,this one was still looking good when it was in the upper 90's

CC - you've done darn good with that Sang!! I let mine bite the dust with the freeze. My sang, flava and vulcan are all history. They looked awful all summer and I didn't want to mess with them any longer. Glad to see someone in the Northeast has had success!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

poppy sue......... send me your address for the CG.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I am hoping to have all those someday Sue,I can't beleive you gave up on them!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

esp the flava. she is in big trouble now!! LOL

I am trying to root my vulcanicolas and my other sangs CC....... If I succeed I will let you know. but you can also mention it to me in about a month........... I have no mind anymore.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I tried my best CC.... I really wanted them too and I thought our summers would be cool enough. I even lugged them all into the house when it got too hot and back out again when it cooled down. One of them - a yellow sang, ended up with a bad case of cyclemon mites and never recovered.

Kell - you have mail! :)

Kell, the one you sent me that you have pictured above is starting to get a new shute coming up from the bottom. I have lost a few leaves but that is about it.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

kell,I will take you up on that!

I rooted 3 of the 6 cuttings that I took from mine, surprized myself

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Wow CC. How'd you root them?

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Took side shoots, cut them off with razorblade, dipped them in that Shultz stuff, and put them in vermiculite and watered with diluted schultz stuff, kept them in that little portable GH thing I got at Big Lots......like I said ...surprized myself

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Do you dilute the shultz powder with water? Or is it a liquid?

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

the liquid,I dip it in the stuff ,full strength, then water with the diluted mix
