Last Brug of summer

Guess this is the last of my Brug flowers for this growing season(outside). It's supposed to get cold here in the next day or so and I'm quite sure this Dr.S will freeze....but there is always the greenhouse.

oh Glory, poor brug.............. I am offing some of mine this year also. But I think I will have to do the deed myself for I doubt nature will. I feel terrible!! Th eone that I know has to go is a huge CG type. It, like yours, is blooming its little heart out right now!

Gloria do you think I'll make it. I do stay a few degrees warmer than you and 34 that's predicted is still above freezing. I am getting blooms on JP, FP, MVP, Ollie,JY, DS, and Whiskers and don't think I can make myself cut them today. I was hoping for a least another week or 2 so everything will bloom out. If it does get them will the cuttings be any good to give away or do I need to compost them.

Donna, i am in the boat with you. forcast is mid 30s sunday night and upper 30s monday night. a light frost has never hurt my plants before, a little leaf damage. i am more concerned about seed pods. will probably cover my plants with seed pods since people seem to be losing pods when bringing them in anyway.

Donna,
I don't think you are going to get to freezing but if so forget I ever said the above. LOL I planned on leaving this guy as is and just cutting it back after it freezes....maybe Mr. Frost will pass us by!!!!

I am in the same boat. Just can't make myself cut them with blooms all over (except Mr. Roberts). I keep saying next weekend..Hoping that freeze will wait.

I am expecting about the same temps as Arlene. I still have a lot of blooms. The ones in the garden, I am leaving. The others that are in pots, I am putting under a pavillion that we have been working on to close in with plastic and put a door in it. It is going to just be temporary for the winter months and it will be easy for me to move them in and out when we have nice days.

i played russian roulette this time last year, and won.... didn't frost on me until the week of christmas. and i had quite a few seedlings come up last february. some that volunteered, and most of those survived the hard hard march freeze.

You are lucky to have flowers this late. I'm sure enjoying all the pictures coming in from the south. Hope the frost holds off for you for a long time.
