Didn't do much today, but it feels like a lot. ;) Started out with the usual bottle baby feeding. She's eating like a little pig, but her legs are awfully wobbly. I'm wondering if there's really something wrong with her and that's why the cow abandoned her. I guess we'll see in the next few weeks. Has anyone else had a premie baby and did it take a lot longer for them to get their legs under them? Some days she'll follow us all the way to the gate wanting more milk, other days she won't walk ten feet to us.
We're horse-sitting for BIL and one of the horses is a stud horse. We have him well separated from the mare and he does NOT like that. ;) Today he showed us just how much ~ jumped right over the pipe gate and beat the heck out of the top of it! I'm so gald he didn't hurt himself! So we raised it up a foot off the ground and wired it back up 'til we can hang it right again or get another one. It's now about 5 or 6 feet high like the rest of the fence in that corral (should have put the gate up higher to start with) and he keeps looking through it like, "Aww, come ON!" LOLOL! I'm glad it won't be long before Ed gets his fences done.
We also moved the cattle watering trough to where Les can see it (and the cows that come up to it) from his bed. He spends a lot of time there, but does get out some, too. Like today ~ he got on his scooter and toured the farm! LOL! Visited Belle and the bottle calf, rode out in the pasture a bit to see the new calf, petted the sheep and goats, watched the goldfish swim around in the trough we moved ~ all in all had a good time of it. :)
We got a couple other little things done, too, so we had a great day! I hope all of you did as well.
Kathleen, I'm glad those guys yelled at Stan! Might help you keep him in line. ;) I was never so glad as when our neighbor stopped by after Kenny was on his feet again after the bypass. LJ had the same surgery twice and told Kenny in no uncertain terms that he needed to get his butt back in the house seeing's how he'd already been out and about for three hours. LJ told him all about it and gave a stern warning NOT to overdo it. I noticed a big drop in his insistence that he was fine and could go back to doing whatever needed doing ~ thank God. Funny how those guys just don't want to hear it from us. ;) And congrats on the new calves!! And I'm sorry about the two you lost. I hate that part of it all. :( But the little girls sure make it better, don't they?!
Bernie, I've the same question about bulbettes ~ are they the little small "offsets" of the mature corms? If so, two five gallon buckets are a LOT! Heck, that's a lot of mature bulbs, too!!! I just love glads! I remember looking at your pics of yours and drooling... ;) And Lisanthus! Those are such beautiful flowers! Please keep us posted on how they do.
Mary, you're going on another trip? I must have missed that ~ where are you going now? Another ride or just a pleasure trip/vacation somewhere? Be safe and have fun. :) And again, I am SO glad to hear the wonderful news about your friend in the hospital and that your missionary family made it back safe and sound ~ what blessings!!!!!
KathyJo, sounds like you need to get that, um, "Farm Dog" a spiked collar as a badge of courage, bless his little heart! LOL! GOOD dog!
EvaMae, gosh, girl! You had a BIG day yesterday! I hope the headache's gone for good now. How's Misty? I hate the way they look at you after you get them fixed, too. :( But not as much as I hate having to find good homes for EIGHT puppies! Like the ones we have now! ACK! I could have SWORN I saw a scar on Nellie's belly when she wandered up here! But nope...
