Need some good vibes from all

Monroe, WI(Zone 4b)

Some fervent prayers wouldn't hurt either.......... I had a meeting with the zoning administrator yesterday. It seems like somebody turned me in to zoning in our county regarding my greenhouse........running a business on land zoned agriculture. I have a good idea who it is, but not going to confront the person in case I'm wrong. I think it's a case of sour grapes, and not a neighbor protesting. All my neighbors think the g'house is a great idea and they have said they are going to come and sit in it in the dead of winter when there is snow out. Anyway, I have to go through a hearing to get a conditional use permit. That in itself is no problem, the zoning adm. told me she could see no reason why I wouldn't get it, as I would be causing no disturbance, smell, or other noxious doings. The problem is I have to talk to somebody from the state to see if I have to submit a building plan to be approved by the state for a "commercial building" because if its size. If just the part that is finished off is considered, I will be within the size limit (25,000 cu. ft) but if they say, well, your WHOLE building has to be considered, even tho you only finished half..........I'm toast. Even tho this is a private greenhouse, not open to the public, and spouse and I pick up and deliver the plants so public is not in here, unless I specifically invite someone into see it. I am going to call the person today, but Monday is her usual office day, as she is out in the field the other days. Zoning adm. assured me she is a nice person and very reasonable. I can only hope............So, if any of you have some extra prayers and good thoughts floating around, I could sure use them in the next few days. If they deny me this, I don't know what I will do. Probably keep on and hope for the best regardless. I know what spouse will do....vapor-lock, but I try not to think about that right now. I am doing my best to be positive about this. Thanks, all, you've been such great support when we were building.

I don't get it. Your business is agriculture, so if the area is zoned for agriculture, what's the problem? Some people just like to cause problems for others. Probably like you said, just jealous. Good luck to you.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

We're a greenhouse/garden center. We grow more than 51% of our stuff so we are agriculture. I'm even on the county ag board.(you have to be involved in agribusiness to be on it). My greenhouses are exempt from some codes because they are considered "temporary structures". All of the greenhouse businesses around here, except the ones that don't grow their own plants, are agriculture.

Gosh I hope all goes well for you. You did such a great job on this building that it would be a shame to not be able to use it. Good luck and I'll sure be thinking about you and hopefully sending some good vibes your way to help you through the coming days.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Seems like most of the time, they will ok your business, zoning, etc., if a "little money" passes hands. I found this out when we sold dad's property, which was zoned business, but never used as business. For $375. they zoned it for the buyer for business. Hope yours' comes out ok!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

What a shame someone had to go behind your back like that. I bet it will all be ok! Good luck!!
