This is a really pretty plant...too bad it doesn't transplant well! :( I guess I'll just have to try again, although I'm hoping the one I have (had) dropped seeds.

Does it make a corm like other liatris? If it does it would probably transplant better while it's dormant - and not already growing.

Sue, I'm not sure, I dug the plant and kept the whole dirtball intact. It went south anyway. It died like it blooms, from the top down! Maybe I'll dig up the remains and check it out. A friend says maybe it just went dormant. Since I collect from the wild it would be impossible to find if not in bloom! LOL

I bet it does have a corm.... And I bet it did go dormant after you dug it. I wouldn't be surprised to see it come back in the spring for you. In general I've found most Liatris to be pretty tough plants. The corms increase as the plants mature. You can dig them up and seperate the little ones from it.
