obviously I missed something

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

cause now I have a beautiful Gulf fritillary in my greenroom:) very nice surprise, but will it lay eggs and keep the cycle going? I'll leave it if not, but will have to catch if it so. thanks:)

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

They eat passion flowers. - Got any for him?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

of course. does that mean I should catch him??

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I dunno tiG. It's doubtful he'll be able to survive and reproduce in the house. I think he needs a mate :o)

Everyone send your fritillary cats to tiG!! We don't want hers to be lonely!! ;)

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

nononono!! lol!!!

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

tig, you may get more! how nice. you can always send the eggs down here, they'll be on the tips of the vines.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

well, I guess they won't hurt anything but the PFs, right?? wish Emily had been here, it was kindof funny!

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

tiG . . that sure was a nice surprise to see a butterfly fluttering around in your green room. They are so special in more ways than one.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Why don't you chase down Bug Guy and ask him?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

good idea Liz. I have a couple of lizards too, you think you check.....:)

Try this link and also email Bug Guy, I am Bug Girl and I don't know much about insects. I would use a fish net to catch it.

The link is to ask the bug man, website, he would know for sure.

I just found a phone number you can call him, since you are having an emergency, he lists his phone so people can call him.

thanks:)

The Bug Man is also very ecological correct, he will know how to get the butterfly out of the house without killing it.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Tig won't it be to cold outside where you are to put it out???

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

it's still in the 50's.

Did you get rid of the butterfly? I just noticed a forum on daves for butterflies and humming birds, so you could have posted there. I thought it was about a brug, at first.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

no, he's too hard to catch without breaking something and with all the seedpods I have, I'm not taking the chance. I might be able to sneak in there in a while and catch him in the dark, but don't want to hurt him either. it will work out, thanks all!

Did you try either a real butterfly net or a net that people use to catch fish in. When people clean out the fish tank they need to put the fish in another container, one of those nets you could pick up cheap at any pet store. Not a net used for fishing.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

hehehe, if you could see my greenroom, you'd know that's not a good idea. I have 8' tall trees with branches covered in seedpods. I'll let him stay:)

San Francisco, CA

Oh, it is a green house, I thought it was like a living room. LOL, he can stay in.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

well, it's an inside the house greenhouse. I have a 20 x 15 room that's converted to a plant room.
