I am under attack by some sort of leaf cutter. I've looked and all I can find is this one small bug thingy. What ever it is it doesn't seem to bother any of the leaves but the ones on my brugs! Do snails attack brug leaves? Mike is going to try spraying with coffee on the leaves just in case it is snails/slugs. Any idea's what it could be other than that?
It's war I tell you WAR!
I'm going to WAR! HELP! Something is eating my brug leaves!
Slugs & snails love brugs. I don't like the looks of that wormy thing either.
Please don't kill me, please. I promise to turn into a beautiful moth before long.
I'm afraid I'd have to do something. Butterfly or not.
I have this happening to some of mine. In many places there is only a half of a leaf . . . but I have beautiful butterflies flying around every day in my garden.
This little worm needs to be identified so you can find out if it will turn into a nice butterfly or not. Those worms that chew on cabbage and tomatoes don't produce anything I want flying around my garden, so they get the boot. This one might not be a "pretty" either. Don't we have a forum on here to ID bugs or maybe find Bug_Girl and ask her to come over here and see if she can ID this one.
hummer_nut, Is this baby moth what is eating my brug leaves? It's the only one I've seen. Do you know if spraying with coffee for the snails will hurt this baby?
I am not sure what kind of worm this is but I had alot of them mid-summer. Maybe someone will recognize it and let us know if it is a good or bad worm.
E-mail bug-guy he could tell you what it is more than likely.
Oh, I had that IDed earlier in the summer, can't remember what it was now. Is it light green?(best I can remember, they don't turn into anything pretty)
best thing to do with these baby when you see them is pick them off throw them on the ground and put a boot on them
Mike spent the day cutting the worst of the damaged leaves off my brugs. I counted today and I have over 70 between the cuttings the great people here at DG's have sent plus all the babies I have started from seed that was sent. I'm sorry, I do love butterflies and moths but this is too much. Every plant has been chewed on. I spent the better part of the morning looking at leaves and picking off all that I could find but by the time I got back to the front plants, they had these little green things on them again! The few I am killing will not deplete the population of what ever they are. Am going to the pest forum to see if I can get this identified.
Thanks everyone.
Annie, I went into the Jungle House yesterday and there on the floor was "bug poop"!!! My poor brug leaves had been chewed all over!! Now I want to know, did you send those things to me??
Those pesky little critters, came thru my computer and is eating mine too. You all must quit transmitting them, worse than a computer virus. LOL.
I knew Annie was good with computers(or is it her DH?) but didn't know she could do teleportation!!!! Guess she was desperate to get rid of them, lol.
LOL guys, I wouldn't wish these little uglies on anyone! Now I am good with computers (I actually built my very first one myself but that is a LONG story, LOL) but even Bill Gates isn't good enough (YET) to transport things through them. Just think if we could what postage we would save, LOL.
Posted in the Garden Pest formum and wrote BugGuy. Off I go to see if anyone has answered me yet.
Here's what BugGuy said, "I believe this is some sort of micro-moth larva, but I can't be certain. Having critters in your yard is fine, but not at the expense of all of your plants!" These little thingy's are now munching on my seedling brugs, UGH!
BugGuy suggested the use of a chemical and I may have to resort to that but I really don't want to! Mike has not used chemicals in the garden, he is trying to do the garden totally organic. OH my, now I really don't know what to do.
Annie, when enough is enough, i use the raid flying bug spray at dark, or very early in the morning. it doesn't damage leaves, don't think it leaves a big residual effect, but should kill those critters. i spray maybe a foot, little more from the plants so it sprays around the bottoms of the leaves too.
to be honest, i started using bayer rose systemic on my more special brugs this summer, enough is enough!! the butterfly cats as far as i know don't usually munch brugs. i forgot about BT, always do, supposed to work great. i have a new crop of light green cats on mine too. wonder if they are fall web worms.

BT worksd great. I understand organic gardeners use it..........
here I found this:
"If you don't have enough birds & wasps in your garden to help you keep caterpillars damage to a minimum, you may need to resort to spraying. WAIT! Did I just say that? Yes, I did, because I'm talking about spraying with Bacillus thurengiensis. Bacillus thurengiensis, Bt, is a naturally occurring bacterial toxin that is harmless to humans and other forms of life, but will kill caterpillars who eat a leaf coated with the stuff. It is harmless to all creatures except the targeted pest. You can find products containing Bt for sale at garden centers or from mail order suppliers (click images at left). Bt will not kill caterpillars right away, but they do stop feeding shortly after they ingest it, and will die within a few days. ....
Organic farmers & gardeners love Bt, because it is effective and safe for humans.

kell, Oh girl, thank you so much for the info and link. Today is one very stressful day here and I really didn't want to start adding chemicals to our garden. HUGS for the info!
