If you have anything left let me know tiG.
Tig you are going to be one busy lady. Have a great day!
I know I'm not the first to have a list like this, I need Cala, she loves to pack!!!
tiG, I received a package of cuttings last year from Eric and was in shock when I saw them. Nothing around the cuttings, just loose in the box. I was amazed. He knew what he was doing when he mailed them. Every one of them grew just fine. Even the plant(rooted) that had no soil on it. It was limp, but after putting it in water for a few days it was fine. Ended up being the one I call Buttercup and a very nice yellow. So, sometimes I think we could do a little less work when we pack. I like to pack them well, but maybe just packing material around them to keep them stable in the box would be plenty. Of course labeling is a must if we know the names. I had a cutting laying on the ground for a month this summer and after a rain it made leaves. They are pretty sturdy little plants.
PS. I still wrap mine in damp toweling and cover that with plastic wrap and then tape. It takes time, but I don't mail out 20 boxes at a time either. The worst part for me is doing the address label. I think when people send postage that it is nice if they also send the address label too. Sure makes it go faster for me. JMHO
I wish I'd asked for that brugie, don't know what i was thinking, but it's okay:)
JT mailed some to me in a baggie. I can't for the life of me remember if they were closed or not though. woody ones do fine like that. In fact, I received some last year from a far off place, 3 sticks in a box. Couldn't believe it. they did wonderfully!!!
The only ones I'm going to wrap and plastic are the ones that will have nubbies from being cut and in the water for a few days. the dry ones will go like JT's. hope to do it assembly style like Cala:)
tig, sometimes i cut the return address off the envelope and tape it on the box. i agree, this time of year and thick cuttings no sense wrapping!
I might even just keep the wet nubbie ones for me, and send only dry:) hey, I like that idea!!!
tig, The ones I just received from Donna B and the one's I received from Cala were cuttings with just a damp paper towel on the end that was in a small plastic bag. Cala used a permenant marker to mark the name of the brug on each cutting which made it so easy for me. You will let me know what I owe for postage, right?
Annie
Thank you tiG! I can't wait! I've been playing "Taps" for a few of the cuttings I've received from the very generous members at Dave's. It seems hard for me to root the brugs in the fall. Of course it could be that I want all of them to make it!
I've got all woody ones in water. I don't fuss and they root. But it's mostly warm in the rooms where they are, are they getting too cool??
I have them in the laundry room. No windows. 75 degrees in the daytime. I do a few loads of laundry at night-- to run the dryer for more heat in the room. I think I hear them call my name in the middle of the night. I get up and check on them to make sure their alright. Oh Geez! I think those brugs are taking over my life!
welcome to the club:) they are getting light, right?
Low light. I think it's the granite countertops. The granite is very cool. My husband won't let me bring them to bed with us to warm them up! Ha! Ha!
can you set them on the fridge? they won't like that cool water.
I mist the top of the cuttings--I don't soak them. Our fridge is built into the cabinets. It's one of those gargantuan things. My husband need to build me a plant rack with an area for heating coils. But everytime he does we move shortly thereafter. ah! the curse of the gardener. We look like the Clampetts driving down the road with plants stuffed in everywhere!
TiG,
If you have any extra and your not tired of packing, Please let me know.
