My first Brug flower, :-) They finally opened, :-)

Sarasota, FL(Zone 9a)

The only label these had were "Yellow" so I'm not sure of their name but it doesn't matter to me at all at this point. These are my very first brug flowers, :-) Am I excited or what?????

They actually have a slight-peach coloring to them.
Guess I'm just going to have to wait and see if they change color.

Nice flower. Wonder if it might be Sunray. I'm sure someone that has this flower can tell you. You do good work......

Congratulations!!!

Sarasota, FL(Zone 9a)

I can't tell you how excited I am, :-) It didn't have any fragrance this morning when I took these pictures. I sure hope they last for a few days. There are 3 other blossoms that have yet to open but have started! DH couldn't believe how beautiful they are. LOL Cala, you now have another addict you are responible for, ROFLMAO Mike has decided to pick just certain plants and only put those in our limited garden and Brugs were on the top of that list.

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

I remember my first and it was a thrill. Now I am clinging to the hope that the peach from Glory will show me a bloom before old man winter comes a calling. That is the only one left that I have any hope of blooming this year. Been out potting rootings all day. Great pictures Annie. I have a yellow and I think it is Citronella and it has the citronella lemoney smell. When it first bloomed it didn't have much scent but the second waves of blooms was really scented. Good luck with the brugs.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Very pretty Annie. Hope you get lots of blooms before the frost comes. Are your brugs going to stay out side this winter?

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

lovely bloom, sure is purrrtttyyyyy...

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Annie, I don't think that word is allowed here at Daves unless it is associated with something like Bolder Dam.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Congratulations Annie!

Sarasota, FL(Zone 9a)

LOL Brugie, there are times when the D hasn't stood for darling but those are few and far between.

Yeppers, my brugs will probably stay out all winter. We hardly if ever gets to freezing here in Sarasota. All my bigger ones are in pots so I can bring them in if it looks like it will go to freezing. Mike's (DH) pepper plants are that way also. He is so into growing hot peppers. He must have 8 or 9 varities going. Peppers are a perinnal plant and they will produce peppers almost year round here for about 5 years. They grow into great little bushes.

Gosh, 5 year for one pepper plant would be great. How about the tomatoes, do they grow that long as well? Guess they would be pretty tall after a couple of years though. I've just got to move south.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Annie, we wanted to grow lots of peppers and overwinter, but due to lack of space (can you say brugs!!) we only brought in one. Should I do any pruning, it's a little scraggly.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Brugie, I say we should all pool our money, buy a big ranch and grow brugs!!(Down South of course)

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Cala, that sounds like a winner. We could be a bigger than ever brug grower/seller and make a mint......... :-)
That might be a stretch......

Sarasota, FL(Zone 9a)

Mike doesn't tiG, not really anyway, just slight trimming to shape them up and to get rid of any dead wood. He has his "Special" ones in pots and has them named, LOL. The pepper he want to get now is called "Peter Pepper". I don't think I want that one in my garden, :-(

You can actually start new plants from the cutting of the pepper plants.

As for tomatoes, you know, I have never tried them. I have several cherry tomatoe plants in pots, so I'm gonna see how long they will last and continue to bloom.

Brugie, I have roses that bloom all year round here. I wouldn't want to move north again for anything. Snow and Cold are very nasty 4 letter words in our house, LOL.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Annie, I grew that pepper this year, it's ugly, turns brown and isn't the novelty they make it out to be. and it doesn't even taste good.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

TiGGums, you must have gotten a defective one!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I grew the Peter Pepper here this year and it turned orange. Never did change after that. I thought it would turn red, but NOT........It was a nice bushy plant, but didn't really produce a lot until fall. I didn't do anything with them, just wanted to see what the fuss was all about. Probably won't grow them again unless I happen to run across the seed in my seed box. I have a problem having seed........just have to put it in soil in the spring.

Sarasota, FL(Zone 9a)

Mike has the most unbelieveable green thumb and most everything he starts from seeds grows. The one thing he has a problem with is yucca! He has tried about 6 times to start yucca plants from seed and so far we have only had one start and it isn't the healthiest plant we have.

Cala, must have, didn't live up to it's name:) kell, watch yourself! don't get into trouble on this thread!

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

Very pretty Annie. I share your excitement. I have one bud on my first seed grown brug. and I am hoping it will finish blooming out before frost hits again....Patricia

Sarasota, FL(Zone 9a)

Cala, I'm with you, let's all pool our money and buy a LARGE hunk of land in central FL and start the Brug Capital of the world! That would be perfect! All those brugs and friends from DG's in the same place! I think that place will have to be called HEAVEN!

Annie

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I was looking through some old threads,at Citronellas.
I kinda liked this one,I guess we did not get to pool our money together,Cala!!
You snuck down south without us!LOL!!!!

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)
