Sunshine, yummy sunshine all day today!! I had a great day today and I hope all you did as well!
EvaMae, new pups are a joy, aren't they? I'm so glad your new baby is doing so well! :)
Lisa, awesome new boat, girl!! I'm still SO happy for y'all! :)!!
Kathleen, I'm overjoyed to hear that Stan came through with flying colors! I can relate to the "bad nurse" thing ~ you're NOT being a bad nurse, he's just a man and they don't take well to laying down to heal. Duct tape on a naugahyde couch works pretty good. ;)
Mary, have you tried putting "obstructions" in the water's path in your garden rows? Maybe some mulch that will help keep feet not so muddy when you have to walk down the row after a rain and will rot away to compost by next year? Then again, re-orienting the rows is pretty easy since you'll be doing it anyway. Good luck with that project! We'll have to figure out the row orientation thing next year, too, in the garden addition. I can't wait ~ someone push the fast-forward button to spring!
Fed the bottle calf first thing ~ she's sure got an appetite! :)!! No scours, no coughing or any other signs that she's anything but healthy. She's still a bit wobbly on the legs, but I'm thinking it's because she's premie and gaining weight fast. I lifted her up today and can feel a good bit of difference from last week. :)!!! Belle is sure being a good adoptive mama, too. Man, I love that cow.
The rest of the day I ditched housecleaning and figured out a pattern for lop-eared bunny baby booties. About two hours and look what I had! http://davesgarden.com/fp.php?pid=403561 A close friend is expecting and her baby shower is this Saturday. The theme is lop eared bunnies (When did baby showers start having "themes"? I must be old. ;) Anyway, I searched the net 'til I was cross-eyed and couldn't find a pattern online, so I made one up. I'm so happy with it! I couldn't wait 'til Saturday, so showed them to Debbie when she came over to see the calf and puppies ~ she cried ~ I did good. ;)
Oh, the puppies ~ Nellie, the little red heeler that wandered up a couple months ago aparently wasn't spayed as I'd previously thought (I really thought I saw a scar on her tummy). Today she had EIGHT puppies! Oh, man, am I in for a time now. LOL! Tonight they're in the house and tomorrow we'll fix a spot in the greenhouse where it will be warm for them. Dry, too, since I don't have any plants in there right now and not many to put in it later. We'll do what we usually do with all the strays we take in ~ keep them until they're well-weaned and give them some basic training in house breaking, sit, stay, etc. THEN comes finding good homes and teaching the new owners the commands. We've got practice at all that ~ friends call us "Spicewood's Unofficial Canine, Kitty & Equine Rescue" or "SUCKER" for short. ;) I found a cheap spay/neuter clinic in town, so Nellie will be visiting them as soon as these puppies are weaned. I wish I could afford to get them all fixed before we give them away. :( But atleast every new owner will get a card with all the info about that clinic, including prices and contact numbers!
Well, better do the dishes. I wish I had one of those barrels that little green witch in the Warner Brothers cartoons had!
