Brug varieties that bloom

(Zone 6a)

continuously. Wish we had a list of them:) Only one I can remember seeing that blooms continuously all summer is the Ms Anna. There are surely more....anyone care to contribute information?? I think a lot of members, expecially those new to brugs, would be interested:)

My x knightii is the first to start blooming in the spring, and blooms until the first frost, dropping many buds then. It didn't stop all summer, even when not watered to wilting point and it was fetilized only two times! Many of my others bloomed less than normal, while knightii did the same as 2-4 years ago when I had more time for it. It is also the fastest to root from my list.

I just got a new cutting of Species, but when I had my first plant, it seemed to be in bloom all the time, once it started in early summer.

Sunray, c. Dbl White and Whiskers bloomed a lot this summer for me.

Looks like there aren't many continuous bloomers. Maybe we should breed for that trait. My Dr. Seuss was the nicest brug I had, but it only had blooms one week out of every five. That's got to be improved upon:)

Owen, my Dr. Suess would bloom a little, then a lot, and then slow down a bit, with each flush. Therefore, when it was through blooming, it was about ready to start again. I'd say two weeks at most between bloom flushes. The one I got from Eric named Strawberry Creme was a continuous bloomer from July 12 until frost with the exception of three days. Not a lot of blooms all the time, but several. Isabella bloomed a lot too with short periods of time without bloom. Maybe we need to decided which one blooms first and so on, and then stagger them so we always have bloom in the front yard. Might take a while to figure out who is going to bloom next until we get it all on paper and plant accordingly.

My white monster brug I think a Aurea X Suaveolens hybrid blooms non stop late spring to frost although it slows a bit in August and September.

Sure would make for a lot of useful information Shirley....maybe we could get such a project organized, with the help of several volunteers.
