using systemics now

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

is there one that I can get now (even if expensive) that would help me ward off mites, mealy bugs and whiteflies?? I'd like to get a jump on them before they show up here.

(Zone 7b)

tiG.. I use Bayers when they are outside.. it's food and systemic in one, comes in a blue jug and is reasonable. Would that work for inside too?

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Home Depot carries a brand for inside. I use it and it does work. It stinks for a few days but after that the smell goes away. I'll find the bottle and give you the brand name.

Kristi, I use the same stuff from HD. What I get is a Bonide product if I remember right. Doesn't totally keep them away, but certainly helps control.

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

Is the Bonide a spray on or added to the soil?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

It is put into the soil. Granules, small and with a slight odor. I never noticed them smelling after about 12 hours.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Remember that for systemics to work, the plant must be in active growth, not dormant or resting.
edited to add: you can also search for something with Azadirchtin as the active ingredient. It's an "insect growth regulator", works for several weeks and is a spray.

thanks for that info Cala, so if I get them in now, while I do still have them under lights and growing, it will help. I do have some in other rooms that I'm letting go dormant so I won't waste any on them. Perhaps I can keep anything from breaking out before I let the big brugs go dormant.
