to see this thing blooming again right now. I have one little bloom in the basement. Not even enough to get a good whiff. Where is Pete? He should still have some blooming. Pete..............need pictures here.
I'd give anything
good grief!!! wowowowow!!! If I don't have that many next year, I'm quitting!!! did get that on Tequila Sunrise, but it is a very short plant, so not quite the same effect.
you done good girl!
tiG, it is really hard to go from lots of bloom to absolutely nothing. I'm bored out of my mind. Jim laughed at me when I told him I was buying a papaya to plant. Think I'll do an avacado too. Seems like I just have to be surrounded by plants to be totally happy. :-)
Has anyone checked out our DG friends journals? I was doing nothing last night that was constructive, so I started looking. tiG, Calla, Poppysue, JoanJ, and others have so many nice things to look at. You should all take a trip back through the summer by looking at their journals. I was totally green when I finished and I haven't begun to make a dent in all the great journals here.
lol!! mine's a mess. a start here, a start there. I hope to get it organized with more pictures this winter.
now that is a great winter project, make your journal if you took all the pictures. I will have to look at them. thanks for the idea Brugie. But not today. I only can sit so long.
Good to see your lovely plants brugie. Mine out back are mostly gorgeous healthy green leaves. I wonder if I fertilized with too much nitrogen? Yours are breathtaking. I do have tons of tiny new buds right now. but it is too late. story of my life!!
Your PB/R is just fantastic. Is that one you dug and is living in the basement? Next year it should be incredible!
Kyle has it now. I have cuttings. Just not enough room in this little house for everything. It is a fast grower, so I'm sure it won't take long for it to become a bush again next year.
Wow Shirley! You certainly did have lots of blooms. Good thing we've got pictures. It's going to be a long winter.
Bruggie they were very beautiful.
Miss Brugie . . . I forgot how beautiful your Pink Beauty/Rosamond was. A couple weeks ago before the rains (every day for 15 days - except for 2 days of sunshine)my brugs were loaded with buds. Now for the past 5 days I have been finding buds every morning on the ground. The summer was terrible for me and I guess the fall will be also. I am so disappointed that I probably will not see a full flush this year after all the efforts to ensure that it would happen. Guess we just can't control Mother Nature. It is still raining today and expect heavy rains tonight and tomorrow..
Beautiful, I can't believe summer is over....Christmas is right around the corner.
Shirley,
Breath taking photos and plants. Since I keep many of mine in pots, I don't have the vast number of blooms on many of them like you do. What are you feeding them?
Wow Brugie, those are really nice.
Absolutely beautiful Shirley!
Thanks everyone. I sure wish I could have them back right now.
Barb, I feed the ones in pots 20-20-20 (Peters) a couple of times a week up to the point that they get their last flush of buds. This year it got really hot and I slacked off around the first part of August. The ones in the ground are planted with 2 heaping tsp. of ground egg shells, a hand full of lime, Osmocote, and in the bottom of the hole I put a big handful of Watersorb crystals. They probably were fed a couple of times or so all summer with the Peters. I just used a soaker hose on them for most of the summer and then I found they had plenty of moisture in the ground and all they got was a light sprinkle when I watered the other plants. These pictures, as you can tell, are planted directly in the ground. Oh yes, each planting hole had some composted manure mixed in with the soil when I backfilled.
