Pink Beauty for Tig

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

Tig here are photos of the same PB plant blooms. In my experience the recurveing of the skirt depends on many factors. If it is hot it will recurve more, and how long the flower has been open, how dry the plant is.The same thing applies to the color. Sometimes my PB has more red tones and sometimes it is more coral.

(Zone 7b)

That is gorgeous!

Mine always looks similar to the picture in the top left corner. Never any recurve and we have had every kind of weather possible this year. I would love to have the coral colored bloom. Just gorgeous. Nice pictures Barb.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

hey guys, her upper right hand picture looks just like mine.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Yes tig yours does look like the one on the right. Now I can't wait for mine to bloom next year. Beautiful Barb!!!

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

I have had both on the same plant. I think we have gotten paranoid about identifying our plants. Nature is never consistent--always changing. Possibly id pictures should include a photo from bud to when they wilt. LOL

Mine has all the forms she is showing. The color changes too, depending on the weather I think and also age of the blooms.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

mine got the others when it got cooler.

Beauty.. Send me some!

Oh Gosh Barb!! Leave you soil like it is. Those blooms are gorgeous. I'd hate to fool with Mother Nature. However, I guess you could have blooms like mine and they were pretty too. I might try turning my soil acid around one of the PB's to see what happens next year.

Barb, i had decided soil must have a lot to do with it. i have two blooms right now that are doing a little recurl like tig's, but have almost never seen them recurl and i see them out the window where i work/computer. mine seem fatter than tigs, don't know if that's just the pics. and usually the calyces are very low, 2-3 inches from bottom of skirt, although sometimes they have been higher.

i have several plants that i always have different sized blooms on. and this morning milk n honey opened a yellowish/peach. i wish tig's PB had been blooming when cala was there. Dee, could you tell any difference in cala's and mine? i bet tig that ours are the same and just have different conditions.
mine hasn't been that great a bloomer the last few months either, seems it is only blooming on the newest growth instead of repeating. hope i can get some seeds to come up.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

mine was blooming when Cala came, but not the recurve blooms. they were much smaller, lighter and more like the first and last pics of Barb's.

OK, I've decided that TiG's were exactly like mine,(I know her tree shape and leaves were) Dee said mine is just like hers, so I think we all have the same one. Now, is it Pink Beauty or Rosamond?

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Thanks Barb for posting the different pictures of blooms on the same brug. I find it very interesting and I believe Mother Nature does her own thing. This one is a real beauty.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Here is what Monika said about my pink beauty...some time ago.

LOL, Liz. You have to have both side by side to recoignize the difference. If Rosamond isnt fed well, she will look like PB. I eliminated PB a long time ago, because Rosamond had the larger flowers and of course, this big deflated calyx. The minus is her enormous growth. My old Rosamond Tree grew up to 5m each year.

My Pink Beauty only grew to about 7 ft. this year, maybe a little taller. The one that I got from CC was much smaller, but didn't bloom before frost. Maybe next year I can see if there is any difference in the two plants. With luck, I'll have both PB and Rosamond.

Great pictures Barb.

Sure hope you have both plants Brugie.
