WOW! Send some cuttings to me in the spring and I will give it my best shot.

Have rooted my Lord & Lady Baltimore and Turn of the Century for traders this year. Planted some in the ground in September. They made it last year, so hope they will again!

Mini, are you sure that is a hardy one? I love it!!! Did it set any seeds?

I enhanced the photo as it looked really dark...

Thanks, John

Yes, it is deep red. Yes it is hardy as the tag said. I don't see any seeds from that plant yet..

Well, it is a gorgeous bloom, unlike any of the hardy ones I have seen. Thanks for sharing your pictures! John

Could you please post another pic with the leaves? I have a double red tropical, looks just like it. How cold does it get there? Thanks...

I think that depending on where you purchase your plants and where you live, they can be hardy to your zone. Since Mini lives in zone 9, maybe it is hardy there, but wouldn't be in my zone 5. It sure is a pretty bloom.

Hmmm, tropicals are Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, the hardy ones are H. moscheutos, H. coccineus, and a few others, including the Rose of Sharon, H. syricaus. John

Mine are hardy because I bring them inside. :-) What I meant is that they probably sell them in the south and other warm places and say they are hardy. That would only be because of the warm temps. Sure wouldn't be hardy here. I've heard that the tropicals don't like temps below about 55 degrees, so mine come inside early in the fall. I do have hardy hibiscus in the garden and several ROS bushes. If it looks like a hibiscus and will grow, I'll like it.

I will take pic of the leaves tomorrow.. It is rainy outside right now.. In the winter time... I put them with others and cover and light to keep them warm.. They are in pots. I don't trust the cold weather with my hibiscus lol..

I root all of mine in water ..takes a while..but works. :-)

Mini, because of your zone it may be hardy, the roots anyway if planted in the ground, but it is considered a tropical. If you were to get several days of below freezing weather it may not come back from the roots. For this type of hibiscus to be considered hardy, zone 10. Sorry. I have to bring mine inside, zone 8A.

Yes.. If they are hardy or not.. I still bring them inside or under temporary greenhouse..
