Fayette, MO(Zone 6a)

Good Morning,
Well, yesterday when I fed my sheep my young suffolk ewe decided to run between my legs and give me a surprize ride!Glad nobody saw that or knows about it. I would be so embarrassed!
I planted my free ornamental crab apple trees yesterday. I don't know if they will make it or not. They had extremely short root systems for their heights. I think they must have gotten lots of water and didn't have to work at putting down any roots. I also planted my speckled pole limas and my favorite squash (crooked neck or cushaw). I can smell that squash now -- bubbling in a cassarole dish, with butter, cinnamon and sugar on it, yum
at the risk of redundancy -- I posted about this in our new wildlife forum -- a box turtle laid her eggs in front of my front porch steps yesterday. If she saw me move the slightist little bit she would not move at all. She covered her eggs so that you wouldn't even know she had been there.
I hope to see the little guys when they hatch. I think I will put some chicken wire over the nest so predators don't dig it up.
oh, and this should probably go on the wildlife forum as well, but the barn swallows returned yesterday! They build their mud nests on the front porch. They fuss and fuss when they see me, but that never deters them from building there.
Today is hubby and my anniversary. He has put up with this ol girl for 29 years! I will have to think of something nice he can do for me. hehehe..
Well, off to do my morning feed. Calves are calling.
