I have not forgotten you, I just got an extra week without frost:) I will probably have to cut during the next few days, but they will be coming. Any going up north where it's cold will be wrapped in bubble wrap to make the trip.
those getting 'for postage'
Thanks!
♫ Tig I thank you ♫
TIG--If you have anything left over can you let me know---I think I killed off some of the other cuttings from you. Not enough luv I guess.
Can someone turn me on to these brugs. I have never seen or heard of them! This would be something completely new to me and I am very interested! I will need instructions too, of course! How big do they get? They sure look neat! I would appreciate any offers :^)
vredfish--I grew up north of Tampa & they grew really well for me. They must have them at speciality nursuries near you.
You know, I was just thinking...I grew up in Houston, Tx but in the woods...we just had trees and farm land all around. Then in my 20's I moved to Colorado in a small town for 17 years, no gardens there around where I lived. I went back to Houston for a visit a few years ago and I could not believe the difference. They had all sorts of tropicals there. We moved here to Florida 2 years ago and I am going crazy over this tropical stuff! I am learning soooo much!
vred, if I have any left and time, I will let you know. For the best info on growing and keeping them, this forum is the absolute best place on the web. You need a comfortable chair, time and coffee and just read everything!!! you'll know more than a lot of specialty nurseries when you're through.
Thanks for letting us know. I have a list of people waiting for some of monster brug but I don't have the heart to cut her yet.
i perfectly understand tiG :). i am having problem pruning mine too. all the brugs on the ground are loaded with buds. whenever u are ready is fine with me.
it's been super cold lately, the thermometer keeps goind down. last night temp in the desert was 38*F, has been for a few weeks now. if not mistaken, this will be the 1st worst winter, i'll ever experience here.
sooner, but not later, i hope! i do realize i have to transfer them in pots and bring them indoors.
tiG, it broke my heart but I cut most of mine today. Not that I grew anything extremely rare this year but Dr Suess was still blooming his heart out. Now, they are calling for a killing frost tonight...if we don't have one tonight we're clear of a frost for at least the next ten days according to weather.com. It's not fair! I might have gone through the agony of cutting them down too soon. This time of year is frustrating but I guess any way you look at it most people have gotten a couple extra weeks of gardening this year. I don't know, but I can't really ever remember a frost this late in my area (upstate SC).
vredfish.... i am 12 miles west of i-75 in gainesville, if you can get here. there are more DG people than i know about in your area, irish, floridian, florida suncoast, and more. trading plants is great fun, especially when you find locals.
by this time next year you could probably have us drooling, since you probably don't frost!
Hi tiG
Enjoy them for as long as you can! Soon we will only have the pictures to look at. You are so generous to share these with us. Thanks again, Jan.
tiG, am I gett ing 'for postage'? You never did tell me how much postage to send you.
vredfish . . . What part of Houston did you grow up in?
BrugNanny, I grew up in Spring Texas. Now it is part of Houston, at least that is how it looks! Nothing is the same there. I went back in March over spring break to visit family. I could not believe how fast people drive and all that traffic. I remember it as a farm road (FM1960)and now that main street is like a hwy. Alvin sound familiar...where is that?
