Greenhouse

Have any of you had experience with Hoop House, a manufacturer of simple and inexpensive greenhouses? The company is located on Cape Cod.

Also, has anyone used solar energy to heat a greenhouse?

Thanks.

We built our hoophouse last year. It was really pretty easy and we got it done in just a weekend. The greenhouse we built this year was a bit more complicated, but not that bad. Up and running in about a week, but we were fighting the rain the whole time so it took longer. Let me know if you want me to send the plans. How big are you wanting to make it?

Toadlily this is a good place to post that picture. I dont have my plans finallized yet so this year every thing I have is fitting in the wash room. Bought some lights and had some metal shelves.

There is one entry (positive) in the Garden Watchdog for Hoop House. http://gardenwatchdog.com/c/294/
You could contact the poster via email and get more specifics I suppose.

As for solar heating in a ghouse. The closest I've come is when I used 55 gallons barrels of water that were heated by the sun during the day, and held the warmth at night. However, that was when I had a much smaller greenhouse.

Horseshoe I had solar heat on my house and have taken it down due to repair costs. Still have the roof pannels 4x8.
I wonder if the water would circulate thru 55 gal drums without a pump. Might get too hot though as water in pannel would be scalding.

I would think it would circulate w/out a pump...hot water expands. As for it being "scalding" hmmmm.....wouldn't know about that. Maybe by just using one panel instead of all of them would help tho. Just guessing here.

horseshoe if you are over this way sometime in the future I will give you a panel. Got six of them.
