Hughesville, MO(Zone 5a)

A little rain last night. Mostly drizzle all evening. Much cooler at night nowadays. I think it's suppose to be like this most of the week. We are thankful for every drop. The soil is still hard and dry just a few inches down if it hasn't had a lot of amending during the past few years.
KathyJo, we like Yukon God mostly for its keeping quality. It does taste good too, but never seems to cook to the soft easily mashed stage. We got the sets for them at the local grocery store last year. I think they are listed as a late producer, but ours usually come on pretty early. It is also said that they don't make lunkers but we've had several that weighed 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 pounds.
I got the plants from PG planted by dark yesterday. Then Shad had Boy Scouts so we went to town. Good dding as far as meat is concerned but no much else. Lots of nice roasts, steaks, 'burger(mostly ground chuck), etc. GOD has many ways of meeting people's needs and this seems to be one. I delivered some last night and more will likely go out tooday.
I found a nice varigated Peace Lily at WalMart last night for $1. It is in a 3 gallon pot and somewhat wilted with a few brown leaves. But it also has some new growth coming up.It had originally been $19.97 which I would never pay for it. The clerk agreed with me. There were some others in better condition but I thought they would live longer and this one needed care immediately. Lots of some kind of ferns for a $1 too, but I'm not that fond of indoor ferns-at least not for myself-so I passed them up too. .
Several deer in the pasture in front of the house when we came home last night. Also a good size oppossum in front of the garage but it got out into the field where it was dark before Shad could get back out there with the rifle. When Kyle came home he said he too had seen it several times right in front of the house. That is why it's so important to keep our birds locked in secure building at night.
Dori, are you feeling better today? I feel so sorry for you. Hopefully you will get some sun today and that will help you to feel better about life in general.
GOD bless and keep all of you.
.
