Kyle's Pink or EP

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I think it's KP because of how far it comes out of the calyx. I had them side by side and it was only obvious then

Here's a picture of v. Alba.

some people are so lucky when they get misnamed brugs!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Gee tiG..........does that KP look like your GP in shape?

Nice brug Abutilon!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

that one would have made a nice hanging basket for a while

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

It is so cute!

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Nice pale pink. Now if we can find out which plant it is. :-)

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Hey mine is doing the same thing now that the weather has gotten cooler. Very light pink around the bottom.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I'd bet money it's Kyle's Pink. just the lighter fall version. Ask the person who sent it if they have him.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Wonder if it's just a "quirk" of versi Alba? My Milk N Honey is peach now that the weather is cool. Noticed lots of the ones I thought were white have hints of peach or pink now that the weather is cooler.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

tig, need to find out where alice got it from. i don't think there is a huge number of kyle's pink out there of blooming size, is there? maybe it is. Alice, please post an update!

Hi,
I am back and reading all of this. I got this as Versa Alba in spring from a canna friend not at this forum.
Sending an email and pix inquiring if he knows what it is.
To my knowledge he did not have Kyle's Pink.

Looking at Snowhermit's photo mine does not have same shaped flowers.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I should have looked closer at Snow's. You are right, two completely different flowers.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

alice, has the color changed any more?

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Mine is shaped like Snow's, and got it from Valleygrow. I wonder if the really cold temps we had plus the fact I moved it in had anything to do with it. It is not solid pink but kind of little specks of color.

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Arlene,
I am in two houses until I am moved. I did not get to the farm today.
I will be there in morning and check colour and also get another photo.

Whatever this brug is though, I like it. Nice mistake (o:
I am thinking to hoist it up as a basket. lol

Just heard back from my friend he did not have Kyle's Pink to be mixed up with alba.

What is GP?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

GP is Georgia Peach, it isn't that. Maybe it's Ecuador Pink? the flowers are very pretty no matter what.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Alice, This may be EP. The flowers on my last flush were light pink I think due to the cooler weather.
The flowers on my Alba were 18-22 in. long including the calyx.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

look at the shape where it comes out of the calyx and the whole throat. not many like that.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Here's a picture to compare Alba in the front and EP.The corolla and calyx on the Alba is much longer than EP.

I have been thinking that too, it may be EP.

If it is EP, I gave it to him a couple years back. LOL
I will check flowers for changes tomorrow and report back.
Thanks (o:

Snowhermit ..yours is a nice photo!
Thanks (o:

What colour does Alba change to?

How can I tell the difference between KP and EP?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

here is a side by side Kyles pink on left, EP on right. EP is a larger flower and KP comes out of the calyx a bit more

Alice, Alba has stayed white through several flushes but when I recently brought it into the GH it did get a small streak of peach on one of the flowers which was unusual. Many have changed colors since the cool weather has hit.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

PINK PINK every where oh how I do despair!

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Kell, you just have to trade someone I know for alba ..and you get a 'pink'. LOL

Snowhermit ..can I trade you for Alba?
I would like to finally have it right!

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Alice, E-mail me.

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

TiG, I want to thank you for your pix EP and KP.

I have been comparing to mine. I'm not sure what it is.
Calyx to end of bell is almost 14.

Fellow I got this says his old brugs were all mixed up.

This pix was afternoon. But flowers turned to an even deeper pink by evening.
