which one? I am trying to decide which brug to grow in the ground in my front lawn next summer. Dr. Seuss did very well this year, but only had bloom flushes for about one week out of every five weeks....total of 4 flushes during the summer; that means only a total of 4 weeks with blooms.
Would like informed recommendations on which variety would bloom more frequently and also have a nice fragrance and tree size/height. Color would be the least consideration.
This should be interesting:)

The perfect brug is...
If you aren't concerned about color, but do want height, I'd probably put one out there that you grow from seed and just take a chance with it. Those from seed seem to get the tallest and straightest for me. Fragrance would just be a plus if it comes with it. :-) Sounds to me like if you got 4 flushes of bloom on your Suess, you did very well. Now, wasn't I just the best help solving your problem? :-) Good luck. I'm sure someone will have some great suggestions.
Shirley.....you are a big help:) *rolling eyes* LOL
Those I grew from seeds this year only had two late flushes at the most....most of them tried to bloom for the first time just before frost, so they never did get to open their blooms. So seedlings are out of the running:) Would stick with dandelions, except they don't grow tall enough. LOL
Come to think of it...I have a few seedlings from Cala that are about 6 in. tall already. They may be 6 ft. by time to plant them outside next spring:)

I'm keeping some of my tall straight ones in the garage for next year in hopes that I'll see lots of blooms. I just knew you would enjoy all of my help. Does this mean that you won't be growing any from seeds this year? I love the challenge of growing from seed and the wait to see what I get. I had one from Eric's seed that bloomed non-stop from July 12th. Wish they would all bloom like that.
just in time!!! the one I'm sending out is the one! I promise, you'll love it and be overwhelmed with the blooms. watch your mail.
No, Shirley....not gonna plant any more seeds this winter. Just gonna go with the seedlings Cala sent out. Whiskers x Ecuador Pink so should be a brug of some kind:) LOL
I gave most of them to my grandson to raise....he is interested in plants, but I kept 7 of them for myself.
Wonder which pink brug blooms the most during the summer????
see my post just above, we posted at the same time.
tiG, it sounds too good to be true:) which one is it?
Owen
resending Butterfly, but not a teeny green this time. And doing delivery confimation so that your postman doesn't get a yard full ;) This one is fully rooted, but cut back below the Y so it won't take too much room this winter. But it's a fast grower, put it in the ground in the spring. Mine hasn't stopped blooming since the first flower.
tiG....sounds like BF just might be the one I am looking for; I think I remember Eric highly recommending it too.
I may dig another hole out front and try two brugs out there next summer....a Butterfly and a Moth:) LOL
My wifie just loves the leaves on my tiny Maya....may have to pot it and put it out front somewhere too. Thinking I need a bigger place:)

How about that big Pink Beauty? That thing gets really big, at least the one I sent you does. Can't say I treated mine as a tree this year though. More of a bush, but oh my the blooms. Butterfly is a good choice. I'm thinking about putting one in a barrel on my front deck where it will show more. tiG, you are so nice to re-mail to Owen. I hope this one makes it to him. My mailman just comes to the back yard and asks for cuttings now. I think he has just about everything that I have.
owen, that PB I sent is another that has bloomed non-stop. Might put them both out there.
Pink Suaveolens is a non stop bloomer for me. ever since it had it's 1st bloom it just keep on blooming :). there are more buds and bloom since the weather got cooler.
Eventide bloomed really good for me, it was a seedling. My Dr Seuss blooms off and on all the time, seems like it has blooms all year round if I bring them in the gh. Butterfly did great too. I hope someone gets something good from those seedlings that I sent out.
Looks like Pink Beauty is going to be my Moth:) .....
PB and BF in the ground and Maya in a pot out front....those should do the trick.
Cala, what does Eventide look like? I don't remember it....but then I am in early Alzheimer's stage (serious).

Owen, it's a suaveolens type, a peachy color. http://brugmansias.com/go/53700/
Owen, If you need another variegated one, I have Peaches and cream bloomed on and off all summer for me. I dug a extra plant instead of doing cuttings. Your welcome to it.
Kristi
Cala....Eventide is a beautiful vibrant color....love it!
datodg....I really appreciate your offer, but think I will stick to just one vareigated one for now (read that I need a larger lawn).
Owen
