My greenhouse is DONE!

Monroe, WI(Zone 4b)

All of you folks on this forum have been so encouraging when I've posted the progress on the greenhouse that I thought you'd like to see what it looks like with a gazillion plants in it. I have probably 30 brugs, tho most of them are the new cuttings from my generous friends here, but there are 8 large ones also. A gentleman from a Wisconsin farm newspaper was here and did a writeup on it, with photos, made the front page of the family living section........the WHOLE front page. It was a wonderful article and great pix. Anyway, I am so happy with my place of refuge from the coming cold and snow, complete with nice plants and flowers. I am a little over half full, but am getting plant "boarders" still. Thanks again for all the encouragment.

Azalea, what do you have? Minimal or nothing? I've been working towards this for AGES!!! Actually, we started the groundwork "thinking" last year about this time, so we had put over 6 months of brainpower into it. And for two people having a minimum amount of brains to power, well, sometimes it was straining at best. Let me tell you, the worst was putting up the foil insulation over the spray-on expandable foam stuff, we almost divorced over THAT!!! I said I know I will never have a new house, I will never ever take on a job of such monumental proportions with Spouse again!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't even imagine, the big "D" word entered my mind from trying to get my little one up.

The thought of doing another project with him is not something I'm looking forward to.........and something your size...no way.....

you mentioned boarders. Do you charge people to board their plants in there? There was a post in DG recently about someone renting tables for the winter in their greenhouse. It's got to be really expensive to heat a greenhouse in zone 4. Renting out space would help with that.....

I shouldn't complain - really!! I do have the minimum an 8x12 that my dh built for me out of love 4 yrs ago. I love it, just wish I could stretch it a bit! There are so many folk's that have none, I don't know what I did without it - Oh yes I do, I filled our den & living room with pots and he got tired of that. Most things didn't make it in the house because of the heat and looked pretty sad by spring. You are very fortunate Anna.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Anna - you lucky DAWG!! It looks wonderful. I bet your winter will be much brighter spending your days in there.

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

VERY, VERY NICE! That looks like a very professional job. A wonderful place to spend dreary winter days. I'm still wishing but it is getting closer. Was this built from scratch? Do you have pictures as the construction went along?

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

This is so wonderful! I would love to see the news article of you can snap a picture of it? Congratulations to you and yours for making it through this project in time for winter!

Cochrane, ON(Zone 2b)

Congrats on your finished greenhouse Anna. You are so lucky. I am so envious of you. What I would give to have that. You sure put a lot of work into it. Yours is so beautiful inside. Just imagine how great you will feel in the middle of winter when the rest of us are waist deep in snow & counting the days til spring. I really had to laugh about the 'D' word & working with your hubby on projects. That is exactly how it is here too. We made a large arbour to sit under this summer & I thought I was going to ring his neck. I think our neighbours just shake their heads when they see a new outdoor project starting here. You should be very proud of your greenhouse.

(Zone 7b)

That looks great Anna! If it were mine I'd have to determine the absolute capacity of it by filling it to the gills this winter!
