I grew my first brug this year and I'm still undecided as to digging it or leaving it in the ground. I'm told it should come back next year? It made a nice standard. If I take cuttings, do I take them from above the y? I have several cuttings & seedlings started thanks to Cala & Poppysue but don't want to lose this one. Thanks, Jan.
How to take cuttings?
If you leave this one out it will probably die back to the ground and come back from the roots next year. I think you'll loose your standard shape and you'll loose the Y anyway. The southern gals can tell you better than I can.
You can keep the shape of the plant by making a giant cutting - chopping it off at the main stalk.... Or you probably have time to air-layer it in your zone. Or you could dig the whole plant up and pot it to bring in during the freezing periods.
Thanks the information Poppysue. I may just try to dig it. P.S. The cuttings I got from you are doing very well. Thanks again, Jan.
