SNOWBANK?

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

Here is a link to an interesting Brug I found on my favorite canna site. Looks reminiscent of 'Peaches and Cream'. What do you think?

Edited to say that the link goes to the main page, you'll need to click on Brugmansia in the top left column.

I think this is Maya converted into a tetraploid. That's a good price. They're 30 dollars or more at Glasshouse works.

Abutilon, what a great site you have. I haven't seen it all yet, but I'm working on it.

Is this Abutilon's site?

Yes - I believe she's been encouraged by Tara Nova to sell Snowbank. It's patented.

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

I stopped here to read about 'Snowbank'.
A surprise to find this conversation about me!! ..LOL

Yes, the Karchesky site is mine shared with my friend/partner, Dave Karchesky.
Some of what I do when not here at DG ;-)

Yes, I have permission to sell 'Snowbank'.
Yes, it is patented by Terra Nova. The first patented brug, I believe.

'Snowbank' was developed by TN from 'Maya'.
Blooms are similar to Maya.
I have 'Maya' .Foliage is not same as 'Maya'. The 'white' is together and the 'green' is together.
Each maturing leaf gets better (o:
A vigorous growing brug ..unlike 'P&C' in my climate. So far, I like this brug much (o:

I promised Bruno a recent pix 'Snowbank'. I will try to remember to post here tomorrow, too.

Brugie, thanks for your compliments.
And Poppysue, for yours, too.

Darn, if I had known Alice was selling them I would have gotten it from her! Not that I'm not happy with my purchase from GHW, but I like doing business and trading with Alice and she's got it cheaper.

Abutilon

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

This is your site? WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Wish I had gotten mine from Abutilon also. I paid 25 and 10 for shipping from Glasshouse.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I need one too, do you have any left? Your site is really nice.

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Thanks, everyone. Thanks, Gnomey (o:

Kell .. yes, that was us at Ebay. I sold a few of the faster growing plants there that were larger size.
Though all the Snowbank plants are very nice.
Poppysue got one of our larger ones at Ebay. Thanks, Poppysue (o:

Yes, we still have some Snowbanks. If interested, they can be ordered through the Karchesky site. Or me, I guess.
Please supply zip code to figure shipping.

Thanks for compliments to the Karchesky site. We have been working very hard to be one of the top canna sites.
My appreciation always to Dave Karchesky and to friend and webmaster Ginny Barkman (American living in Canada).

We are working now to update for 2003. Finished the seed section last week. Now working the new canna list.
Thumbnails still aren't done ..but we are getting there ;-)

Ok...To save me spending aaaages researching on the net, Can someone give a definition of what a tetraploid is, and how maya could have been converted into one? I love all the scientific stuff..LOL

Bruno

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I'm no expert Bruno but a tetraploid has double the chromosome count of a diploid(?). The count is doubled by the use of chemicals when the plant is just an embryo. This is the first brug that it has been done to - but tetraploid daylilies and irises have become quite a rage. Tetraploid plants are generally larger and sturdier than dips. With daylilies tets can only be cross pollinated with tets - and dips x dips. I imagine this will hold true for brugs too.

Aubtilon - I got the Snowbank this afternoon. It looks wonderful! I can't wait to see it grow up!

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

She has some beautiful canna's and they are really healthy and big. I know, I got some from her. Thanks Alice.
