pear recipe for Trish

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

I came upon this and thought you might want to try it with all the pears you have....

Cranberry Pear Crisp

Ingredients
4 large ripe pears, cored, peeled and sliced (about 4 cups)

2 Tbsp. brown sugar

1 tsp. ground cinnamon, divided

1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1/2 cup flour

3 Tbsp. margarine

1 cup POST SELECTS CRANBERRY ALMOND CRUNCH Cereal, lightly crushed

Preparation
TOSS pear slices, 2 Tbsp. sugar and 1/2 tsp. of the cinnamon in large bowl. Arrange in 8-inch square baking dish.

MIX 1/2 cup sugar, flour and remaining 1/2 tsp. cinnamon in large bowl; cut in margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in cereal. Sprinkle over pears.

BAKE at 375°F for 30 minutes or until pears are tender. Serve warm.

ok, so this is what I would do, because I most likely wouldnt have the cereal on hand .... I would however, have dried cranberries, and walnust...I would use plain cornflakes, add the cranberries and walnut ~ and voila....

or you could use raisin if you don't have cranberries.....but you wont get that tartiness that you'd get withthe dried cranberries...
we can buy the dried cranberries in bulk, and we love them...we mix up small batches of our own trail mix, with cranberries, raisins, nuts, granola, the sky's the limit
