Bloomed october 13,2002. I am in zone 5. I;m 5'8 and I an looking it straight on! its a big one!

Just noticed this thread, Mimi. Congrats! It finally opened. It took its own sweet time, but it was worth it! Quite the big fellow! He must like you! Next year it may be even bigger.

I got so many clippings from it. Didn;t know that they did good as a cut flower. I just got a good 5 off here last nite. LOVE them! I was trying to "save summer". kept a few on to see what happens. now. am wondering if those left will self seed or what?

Oh! how beautiful! I have one that bloomed a couple of weeks ago, but lost it in a wind storm. Was chopped in half by a tall hollyhock! Hope it comes back next year! They really do look like a Monks hood! Dontcha think?

Weezingreens? you think I should put that there? I took some clippings to work and they stayed from Monday to Saturday!
Celia. mine has huge green shiny leaves on it and its just as tall as me. It took forever to bloom but was worth the wait. Bet yours comes back next year just fine. The do look like little hoods.

well, maybe I will. if it gets pulled off. we'll know it just doesn;t belong I guess. They really do make a nice cut flower. Wonder if anyone else has tried that. I sure hope so. can't imagine such a pretty thing not being enjoyed to its fullest.

golddog. if you count mid october as listed above as late/ Then I guess yes. I'm in Sharon. so. we have probably had frost as much as you. They seem quite hardy and have held up well to frost. I just clipped these off yesterday and we had had a few frosts before hand. They are great!
