Pillbugs in Hibiscus planter soil?

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Can anyone tell me the best way to rid the soil of these pillbugs before I bring my Tropical Hibiscus inside for the winter? I live in Zone 5a..Canada
Thank you for any help you may provide.

Starzz ..
My friend in CA just sent me a duster bottle of natural diotomaceous earth he swears by for pills, snails, and like.
I am trying now.
Dust over soil surface .. the sharp diatoms are supposed to 'wound' the culprits.
No harm to plant, soil, or environment.

Thanks so very much Abutilon. Must get some of that.

Starzz, make sure you don't get the pool DE. Lowes carries 'Concern' brand in the garden dept.

Thanks for the tip. We don't have Lowe's here in Canada..but we do have Home Depot so I will look around.

I am only familiar with pool diotomaceous earth. What is the difference between that and garden type?

Kearney, NE(Zone 5a)

I'm curious too, why can't we use the pool type? I had a nursery owner tell me to use the pool type because it was so much cheaper.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

The most important differences between individual forms of DE is the shape of the diatom, content of Crystalline Silica, and the purity of the Silica Dioxide. The World Health Organization cautions that DE with a crystalline silica content of three percent or higher is dangerous to humans, (and probably pets and birds as well). Diatomaceous Earth used in swimming pool filters has close to a 60% crystalline silica content. If you do use it please use a mask. Concern brand is much safer and readily available.
