Spider lilies for newbies

Oklahoma City, OK(Zone 7a)

Ok, new gardeners. This is for you. I have some spider lily bulbs that I will send to you and all you have to do is pay for postage. I will send out a total of 5 boxes of these bulbs (they range in size from a nickel up to a half dollar). There will be up to a dozen bulbs in a box.

I'm estimating postage at $4.14, as that's what most of the last few boxes I've sent out have cost.

If you are interested, please post a message on this thread. Do not email me directly. I need a way to keep track of this and I get so many emails, I might not be able to keep up otherwise.

Now, if by some chance, you send me $4.14 for postage and it turns out to cost $3.85, please don't fuss at me for the extra $0.29 cents. I'll put it in the collection plate at church next Sunday. I won't mail it back. In the same vein, if it costs more than $4.14, I won't send you a message asking for the difference. Fair enough?

There are a number of web sites with information on these bulbs, if you want to know more. Here are a few that I'm aware of:

Ok, I need to halt this for the time being. If I have more left after I fill all of these requests, I will post to this thread again.

They are on their way. I think I got everyone, but if you don't get them in the next week or so, give me a holler and I'll send out more. Hard to keep up with this much at once, I've discovered. :)

I sent them out yesterday. I discovered, though, as I was mailing them, that it didn't cost as much to mail them as I expected it to. When I mailed bulbs out before, I sent a dozen or so and it was always around $4.00. The only reason I can think of that these didn't weigh as much is that I used very light-weight boxes (taper candle boxes). I sent 8 bulbs to each person, too, so it wasn't like I was sending a lot less.

Anyway, what I would like to do it contribute the extra money (from you and the others I shipped bulbs to) to the Garden Angel fund on Dave's. If you'd like to have it back, I can do that, too, just let me know. I was trying to think of a way to "use" the money that would be beneficial.

Please let me know.

Thanks,
Carla/Smiln32

Attention all you newbies: Take advantage of this offer! Her bulbs are beautiful and healthy. I know, she sent me some and I was SO pleased.
Sorry Carla I'm giving you more work, but wanted everyone to know what a great trade it was.

Am I too late for some of those bulbs?
If so, that's ok.

I am most likely too late to receive your lilies - - but if you have any leftover - (even just one or two) I would be so very grateful. If not that is OK too. :)

Agapanthus,

That's sweet of you to offer such praise. :) It's God's bounty...nothing I did, but dig them up.

Sorry, but I won't have anymore to send out now. If we still live here in Alabama next year, I'll surely have more. Plenty of places to dig them up (when they're blooming and you can find them). :)

Received my bulbs and have them planted already. Thanks so much for sharing these.
