i received some seed in the mail today. no name, instructions, anything. they were postmarked in muncie, indiana. i do not know what they are. it was my sase but no return address. help if you sent these what are they. they are black, roundish horse shoe shaped, with what looks like little hair sticking out from them.

I didn't send them, but the description sounds like hollyhock seed. Does that help?
Could also be Rose of Sharon if they are hairy. The ones I have seen though are brown with light brown 'hair'.
i know its not rose of sharon. paris, thanks because of your suggestion i found another pack of hollyhocks and compared and thats them. i have not had hollyhochs before so i didn't recognize the seed. thanks all.
