Pan-pan deaux

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

other wise known as Lost Bread. It has been served as a breakfast for generations.
3 eggs

1 cup milk

1/4 cup sugar

cinnamon to taste(I like alot)

1 teaspoon of vanilla

Powdered sugar for sprinkling

stale french bread

Cut french bread in 2 inch slices. Med. heat the skillet with a thin coating of vegetable oil. You can use a non-stick skillet, or use a well seasoned black skillet. Beat eggs and milk. Add granulated sugar, vanilla and cinnamon and mix. Dip bread one slice at a time, coating it with the egg mixture. Fry each side of the bread until light brown. Remove from pan and sprinkle with powdered sugar. (Also very good dipped in syrup)
