Pod on Tiara

Tiara is a good pod setter. Much easier than Golden Lady(she lost all her pods in the wind). I'm not sure which pod this one is, I crossed her with several pollen donors, but labeled each one.

as I'm just now having my first pods this year, do they seem to be growing faster in the cooler weather or do they always grow fast???

TiG, they grew pretty fast in the spring too, some are faster than others. It's the waiting on the pencuncle to turn yellow that's the killer!! I've been so tempted to make a little slice in a couple of pods!! Seems like they reach mature size fast, then take forever to ripen.

Arlene, as many as you've shared with me, all you have to do is ask. I'll have some ripe soon(I hope, I need a fix, lol)

You've got some good crosses Cala. I lost a Whiskers pod in the wind a couple of weeks ago. It had stopped growing and I was just waiting for the penduncle to turn yellow.I cut it open and all the seeds were white and not mature yet.Sure hope they ripen soon in the GH so they can go dormant.

Snow, sometimes if you have a mature pod fall, you can just leave it for a few days/week and it will go ahead and mature. It's best to leave it alone till it turns yellow, but sometimes I can't resist and cut a little slit in the side just to peek. I sowed some seeds that were mature but hadn't turned brown, just a little spot of tan in the center. Some of them came up, so don't toss the seeds without trying.

Snow, eclipse lets his pods ripen while dormant.
