Glockenfontäne (also known as madeira mollis)and Nova have similar flowers. Glockenfontänes flowers are much larger (40-44cm), Novas are smaller (30cm), the foilage is a little bit different. The leaves of Nova are broader. Both hybrids are complete sterile, dont produce pollen nor can be sucsessful pollinated.

Monika,
My Glockenfontane has seed pods. Does that mean they produce seeds but the seeds are sterile. When looking at the flowers, it appears there is pollen and I used it to pollinate several other plants and which produced seed pods. The Glockenfontane plant is white. Does that make a difference?

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

If it is white, its not the real form. Glockenfontäne is a natural hybrid from Coloumbia, light pink and it doesnt produce pollen. I have seen the name white Glockenfontäne, but this cv has nothing in common with the natural form.

On several occasions,I have blamed the misnaming of hybrids, having in mind, that such plants will pass our borders but it seems, that presenting a large plant list (and the money) is more important to retailers. They are lacking the knowledge about brugs, but sure know, how to sell them. Sorry, I didnt want to get actually that rough, but sometimes........
