They're gone to Brug Heaven

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

We got hit hard last night with frost. All the un named and ???? ones that I left out are now frozen. It's still only 30 degrees out now. I knew it was coming but it was still hard to wake up this morning and see them.

I have some of those too Snow! As much as I hate to see frost come... I always find it to be a relief. Seems that big long list of To-Dos is suddenly gone. What hasn't been done by now - won't get done. Of course there's a whole new list to start on now tho!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

oh that's so sad. I don't wanta gooooooooooooo......I want three or four more months!

Snow, see, if the bases of the trunks is still living. Hardwood Brugmansias can take some frost. Maybe it ain`t as bad, as it looks.

I can't believe it is fall so quickly. If it were spring my garden would be in great shape. Since it is not and it is fall, my garden is sure not all it could have been!! Do you know I still have spring bulbs from last spring that I never planted? I still have a few 6 packs of annuals that never got in the ground. I still have not done tons of spring chores. I am pathetic! Never enough time. And Dave's sure did not help.

Those brugs look pretty sad Snow. Too bad!!

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Awww...so sorry to see them "gone". Guess it is inevitable tho'. I am hoping for at least three more weeks of growing, so I can see some blooms, it has been a dismal summer for me.

(Zone 7b)

That is so sad to see...I can't believe it's that time again already!

Tonny, All the ones I am keeping are safe in the GH. These were un named ones which I purposely left out.Already sent all my named cuttings out of the ones I cut down a few weeks ago and didn't want to send out any I didn't know for sure what they were to add to the confusion of ??? Brugs.Still hard to see them go as they were so big.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

That's a painful sight. But now you can start dreaming about what you're going to put in their place.

Okay, now I understand. :) Yes, it must still have ben a hard morning to wake up to knowing, that these would be gone. I realize, that this is necessesary to avoid further confusion. I will also cull a few pink suaveolens, but still I keep a few unnamed also as I like them and want to see, how they behave in crosses. If the seedlings have the wanted qualities they will be unnamed keepers as breeding plants, if not I cull all, but x insignis "R" as I call it.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Such a horrible sight! I try to think of fall and winter as wiping the palette clean and planning for the next year. For we all must sleep or go to make room for the new and improved.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I escaped the frost...for now.......
