Need Help, Ground Cover

I hope this is the right forum for this. I have a fairly steep bank ending in a ditch. Really can't mow it and have to use weed eater but it is a little dangerous to do. Would like to know what kind of ground cover can I use to avoid the weed eating. It is mostly in the sun, bank only about seven feet high with railroad ties at the bottom and the ditch with rocks in it below the railroad ties. Any suggestions for a ground cover here.
