Moon Vine

Hampstead, NC(Zone 8a)

I would like to offer SASE for moonvine seeds however I haven't quite figured out the seed yet? It appears that some of the pods have flat seeds? And some have round ones? If someone can help me know which are which I will be happy to share them :-)

I just gathered a few today and they were in a pod and there was two seeds in each pod and they were round. This is my first year with them. I hope this helps. By the way they were white. I grew these from seeds and I think these are bigger and rounder than the ones I planted.

If you've any luck, Belle, I'd be interested. I could trade you some Angel Trumphet Datura in exchange if you are interested.

Morph You've got mail! :-)

And Thanks Georgia!

Here is a pic I took for someone else of seed pods when they are dry and ready to pick!

GRC...they are bigger but will dry rock hard and shrink, make sure you air dry them! Some seeds also turn brown!

Hope this helps!

Rebecca, just out of curiousity, how else can you dry a seed other than air drying it?

Morph...I don't know but they will dry up in a day or two...sometimes I lay mine on a paper plate and place in the sun for awhile!

Just don't close newly picked seeds in an airtight container for at least a few days for they will mold!

Hope this helps!

Yes, it does help! I was just curious. I read a post way back when I first joined Daves that mentioned keeping seeds in paper, not plastic (for the same reason I believe). Ever since then, I've put my seeds in small, paper change envelopes. Thanks!

Lovely! I tried this year to no avail. Perhaps this time I'll have success. What do they like best on which to trail themselves? Maybe that's what my problem was? Or, perhaps the variety. Never know for sure.

Lots of stolen water from my shower :-) was what made it happy. We had a sever drought so I had to come up with ways to find water. I trelised it across twin, and shaded it's roots like you do clematis. I cried when it had it's first bloom and talked to it alot :-) Course the tears might have been over the fact that it choose to bloom the day Shoe was coming for a garden club meeting that I had begged him for a month to attend. He's someone everyone talks about, with his great wisdom of the earth, but not many people have actually met him. So the bloom was a beautiful sign for me. The night hummingbird moths where a miricle to watch. I thought they were hummingbird because in the moonlight they looked like it :-)

Donna, what a wonderful story! Were the blooms as fragrant as I've heard? I will try again next year and may talk to the seedling from day one for encouragement :) I didn't know that shaded roots could help so I'll keep that in mind, too. My clematis has its roots shaded but it was out of luck ~ not purposeful. They do well enough but I just love the look of your moonvine!!!
