My First brug plant..first bloom!

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Hi all
I am so excited..I have been waiting all summer for this. I bought this at my local garden centre and it was labelled as Brugmansia..but no other name.
Could one of you perhaps help me? From looking at the database I think it resembles Frosty Pink..or Insignis Pink..or maybe like Poppysue's Isabella-ish one..
It is 6" inches across..the tendrils are half an inch long.
Thank you,
Carol

Yes Cala..thanks...the next one in line to bloom looks like it will be smaller..and there are a least tweleve other little buds growing too. I will bring it inside if frost threatens and hope that it will carry on blooming in the house.

Kell ..I will look in the database for your Frosty Forever,
if you have posted it there.
Honibee..the pink edges fade to a very light pinkish white..and then the light lime coloured ridges go right down into the throat.
Thank you gnomey, Badseed and all of you for your comments..
Cheers,
Carol

Nice picture. Bet you were soooo excited. I remember so well what it was like when my first one bloomed. Look out. You will be getting more. I can see the addiction disease hitting you now. :-)

Starz - there are a lot of hybrids that have this pastel pink color and many of them are hard to tell apart from each other - if they are even different plants and not the same plant sold under different names. 'Frosty Pink' is probably the most common one. There's also 'Isabella', 'Golfito', Insignis Pink, and many seed grown hybrids that have the same color and look a lot like Frosty Pink. My Isabella-ish one I posted was grown from a seed. It'll be hard to put a definite name on your plant with out comparing it side by side to some of the others.

It's a beautiful bloom and I bet it smells wonderful!

Poppysue..thank you..I think probably it is a Frosty pink.
At the garden center where I bought it they just sold a pure white and this pink one..both labelled Brugmansia..and a pic of it on the label, but no other name.
Maybe next year I will buy the white one. I counted twenty little buds this afternoon..Wow! Do you think if frost comes they will bloom in the house?
Nice of you to help.
Cheers,
Carol

Ahhh - don't buy one Starz! There's plenty of brug-heads willing to share here. You'll get a better selection and a more accurate ID too.

Poppysue..you know I didn't think to smell it today..so I just went outside to take a whiff..and couldn't dectect any fragrance. Maybe it is better in the morning. I will have a sniff tomorrow.
Maybe a "brugie" that lives in Canada will share a cutting or seed with me.
Thanks,
Carol

Smell it after dark...............that is when it is most fragrant......... mine start at about 6PM and just get stronger as night progresses

Will someone let me in on all the jokes about Frosty Pink. There seems to be a lot of hilarity when someone says they will send a Frosty Pink cutting.....
Also, I am just now getting blooms on mine. It's one tiG sent me and it's pink too although I think a little deeper pink. Do you remember which one it is, tiG?
What is the best one to start blooming early and repeats blooming? I think because my nights are so cool, that mine are awfully slow getting started. We even have special tomatoes bred for here. They all have Mountain in their names; my favorite is Mountain Pride.

because as it turns out almost every pink brug was turning out to be a frosty...no matter what name it was suppose to be

And Kell is the QUEEN of Frosties with her pepto garden.
