lol that was mean :-)
I really do buy the plastic floating waterlily, I just hate when the pond look's bare all winter! I get CHEAP one's because they are pretty beat up by spring!!!!

I don't know of any pond plants that bloom in the winter, but my iris leaves stay green all winter, even poking up through a skin of ice...
You have iris IN your watergarden? Do horsetails die back?
lacemosaic, yes I do - it's "yellow flag" (Iris pseudacorus), and it is very happily growing in my pond all year 'round. (In fact, it grows so well, I finally had to pull out three pots this spring and compost them...) I don't cut them back at all (although the pickerel weed and other stuff does get cut back and sunk)
Thank you all for your help.
