poppysue..thats just the color its supposed to be..a large white with a big yellow star....Sun RAY......Sunray.Not all yellow Like Logees often says.its an unusual color form.
One of my first keepers years ago.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Sun Ray - two words... not one? Glad it's the right ID.

My Sun Ray from Logees is a solid yellow. I'll try to get a pic posted here.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Poppysue..its one word "Sunray" Studley...if the leaves aren't like the ones in the pic''its not the true "Sunray"

Logees sometimes mixed up plants they sent. Sunray has very serrated leaves all over the plant.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Kyle - does it have fertile pollen? I tried to collect the pollen but it seemed like it was all dried out. Could have been from the windy day we had.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Very pretty. Not at all like the one I got from Logee's. They are usually so good about what they send. At the time I just thought it was an ugly brug. Pitched it. I'm sure it wasn't this one. Nice picture.

I like that one! its so different.....

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Poppy, I couldn't get any pollen from my Sunray either.

I love both Your pictures Poppysue.

Poppysue, do you have trouble keeping your leaves a darker green. I can't seem to keep the leaves green, they want to stay a more yellow-green than green, I even use Ironite on it but doesn't seem to help.

A lovely picture Poppysue.
And I think Kyle said that the leaves are naturally lighter.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Dee, The leaves are naturally a lighter color.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

It inheritated its light green leaves from JY the pollen parent... :-)

wow, that's a really pretty flower!!! is it fragrant as well?

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Hmmm mine is a faint pastel yellow I got from Kartuz a few months ago. The leave like to go yellow on me too. Glad to hear it is not something wrong with it. But mine doesn't seem to have serrated leaves and it is an extermely rapid grower in size and frequency of blooms. It has a faint spicy scent. I have pictures but don't know how to post them. How do you post a picture here. I am new to Daves Garden

donnab...it took me a while, and i've just recently learned, so i think i can tell you in beginner's terms (haha...i just recently learned how to transfer digital pics to my computer, had to get my kids to teach me!!) anyway, you click browse below the message box, then it will pull up, i think, wherever you were last. you can do the file up thingy until you find the file where your picture is located, and just keep opening files until you get to the file your pic is located in. i click view thumbnails so i can be sure to see all the pics within that file, and find the right one. when you click to open that particular pic, you will see that it lists it in the browse box. you can preview it, but the pic will not be any larger than your thumbnail view, so if you have 2 similar pics, it is easy to post the wrong one (some late nighters know of my drama with this...i now name the pics more specifically, rather than 'catching bouquet1', '2' and '3', and later realizing that they were named in a backwards series...long story). anyway, when you are sure you've opened the correct pic, press send. i always click watch thread (when i remember), then click to go back to the thread so i can view the larger form of the picture i've just posted (to know if i should start panicking if it's the wrong one).

i know you didn't understand what i was talking about, but at least 4 people are probably getting a good laugh out of this...welcome to dgs!!! i'm the class comedian, whose humor is not always appreciated, but never intended to offend!! you're gonna love it here!!!

Yes - the leaves are lighter on mine too. I'm glad to hear it's supposed to be that way. Snowhermit - have managed to set any pods on yours?

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Poppy, Pollinated it with a couple of different crosses but no luck.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Here is mine. It still a small plant and I cut it back during TS Isadore so I can't get a good leaf pic yet.

That looks different to me Donna. The leaves on mine are serrated and the blooms aren't as yellow. Kyle will be able to tell you for sure since it's his hybrid.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Mine look like yours Poppysue.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

DonnaB yours is probably Jamaica yellow clone..there is a different yellow being sold as the real "Sunray" around the country...it was evidently a mixup somewhere and keeps getting perpetuated. the leaves should look like this on most leaves..deeper serrations on mature leaves especially.

Thanks Kyle Yep no serrated leave but they are a little wavy. This is getting upsetting. Seems everything I am buying is not what it's supposed to be. Grrrrr!!! I guess I am going to have lots of surprises in the spring. LOL

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Donna - I can share a cutting if you'd like. Today is the day for me to get my "rear in gear" and everything packed into my green house. There's a couple of nights in the thirties ahead. I'm gonna have to do some cutting.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

I would love to have a true cutting. Thanks so much. I guess I better go add ?? to all the tags I have on my plants and put diffrent tags on those from Gloria. I guess the only true ones I have are the cuttings and plants I got from Gloria.
