I am transplanting beds of iris for a friend. They have been in the ground for 25+ years and have stopped blooming. I figured it was because they hadn't been divided and expected to find rhizomes with many babies attached. But to my surprise, when I started digging, I found small rhizomes and no babies.
So, what can I do when I transplant them to encourage growth and bloom? I thought I'd put in bone meal and add ozmocote to the soil. Would this plan do the trick?
Thanks for your help. Rose
