Tropical Sunset........Huge!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Took a couple of pictures of Tropical Sunset today. Hope this picture isn't too big. This brug is a real show stopper, but could bloom a little heavier for me. I looks a little like Jean Pasko, but the calyx is so much bigger. This one covered a plate. The size between a dinner plate and a salad plate. It really is a nice brug.

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

Shirley, this has become one of my favorites. Can always depend on large bright flowers and one flush after another. A real show stopper. Your pictures are great.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Aren't you getting fancy Miss Brugie!!

Eclipse, it was not Earl at Valley Sunshine but Earl at Valley of Death that some of us have walked through!!!

and if he is sick I am sorry but that is no excuse to just take other people's money!!!! ask for a donation!!!

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

kell, lets not be hard on Earl, even though both plants I got from him were mislabeled.I think plant number two is Dr Suess...bet there are some unhappy Ebay people out there. :-)

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Well, at least you got live plants from him, more than some of us can say!!!

I am sorry, but I do believe if you take money from someone and send them sickly soon to be dead plants, that is the same as stealing!! And I told him this also!!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

turns out a lot of what I got from him was misnamed, but we went down there during the FL swap. he was a really nice guy and I really think something has happened, the plants I got last year were super nice. I ordered from him several times.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Yes it is quite beautiful.

Another thread, that could have been named etiquette. *LOL*

It is hard to keep track of all the right brug names.

I think, that we should praise the lord, that DG has the best, real brug hybrid experts.

Even here - with the best help for ID`ing - the situation is sometime impossible, when an nameless turns out to have a name or when a misID has to be cleared up.

Earl and a lot other people I can think about don`t have this expertise to their disposal and many times I figure, that they are on their own and left to casual information, when they try to ID.

The situation is the very same in Germany, the Netherlands and probably every where else.

It seems also, that the problem of cuttings or plants half dead on arrival is a common global phenomenon.

If I have to put my self into the po. order companys place I can imagine, that they get lots of "offeres" coming into the mailbox every day from courier companies, that promise to ship fast.

Common postal offices are the best and fastest way though using airmail.

Maybe the companies don`t know that?

I am not making any excuses though, because it they were notified by complaints from customers about delayed packages, they should have picked their delivery man more carefully. Wuold it be possible to write the companies, that mail out deayed packages and make them aware of a faster way to mail out?

Another thing is to take in orders and not either mail the plants requested or mail back with information to the person eagerly waiting. If the course is shortness of supplies, then wouldn`t it be better to be straight and say, the supply is short now. Please visit next year? or The supply is short at the moment. Is it all right, that I send you a mail, when we have worked up our stock?
