windsurffer, very few of mine did, maybe the flowers never got pollinated. arsenic posted the 'cleaned' seeds, they are in a sort of spiny-looking pulpy cover, any chance you missed them?

Hi, Just checked my cannas and had a couple of seed pods. The seeds are really hard. Anyone have an idea how to grow these from seed? Jan.

Pardancanda I have the pods with nothing inside :{

Windsurffer: Some of the hybrids, make the pods, but no seeds. Tropicana's don't make seeds. Can't remember which others don't make seeds.

i got my seed to grow by soaking them nicking and planting kept the soil moist (wet side) they grew great. some of the seed got away from me this summer and now i have them coming up in different places so i guess nicking and soaking are not really required.

Debby these are the dwarf Canna so that might be the reason, I certainly had enough bees spreading the pollen around.

I just plonk them in a tray of compost, and they seem to come up like weeds, mind you they appear over a 6 month period, so don't be in too much hurry to throw away the tray. One's that I've sown early in the year have flowered the same year, and put on a really good show.

Eclipse said a lot of the hybrids are sterile,along with their pollen,bengal tiger,tropicanna,stuttgart....etc....

You folks are amazing. I harvested some canna seeds just today and was wondering how to sow them. All my questions answered in a matter of moments. :)

Thanks all but I don't think mine will make any seeds. I have left them on the plant until they fall off but to no avail. I just brought the bulbs inside so I will have many for next year.

If anyone is looking for canna seeds I have a bucket full of them. Why not check out my trade list in this forum and get some other seeds as well??? I want to get rid of a lot of seeds. for trade or SASE as well. :)
