Made a mistake (formerly titled Kyles Pink)
Ooo - I didn't realize it has such long tendrils! Very pretty! I can't wait for mine to bloom
it's beautiful and it is a dark full pink.
the tendrils look like claws ,ready to grab a moth...LOL
I love this one ,can't wait till mine gets big
it stays like this during the day. I had another open but bugs had gotten to it, so I didn't make a picture. That's one thing I love about Butterfly and Kyles Pink, that they keep a nice shape during the day, even if it is a bit different:)
That sure is a pretty one! Is it very fragrant?
I just got this one. Sure looking forward now to seeing it bloom here (o:
Very nice photo! Thanks for showing (o:
another difference maybe in temps. my opens and recurls all the way and pretty much stays that way, at least so far. and no fragrance owen.
TiG or Arlene,
Do either one of you know the parentage of Kyles Pink? Also is this variety an aurea...I'm trying to learn distinguishing features of hybrids...thanks.
all I know is it's a candida cross.
thanks TiG I'll put that in my notes.
Ooooh, thats a real beauty. Kyle should start to open his treasure box!
monika, this is Eric's, named after his son.
tiG,
Maybe this is that Candida Pink..was it always called Kyles Pink? Were in the heck is Eric? I need his help here.
don't think so, I think he sent that C. pink out way after this. He was here for a few minutes this morning and saw this picture.
It doesnt matter, its a beautiful flower.
Kyles Pink is a cross from two different unknown candida pinks. I sent out pictures and pieces of at least one if not both of its parents last year. I still have one of the candida pinks it came from. I know many of you don't like working with unknowns, but thats how I got my start. I went to the local nurseries around here and simply bought up pretty pink suaveolens types, versicolor types, and even mixed hybrids. The nurseries around here still don't label their hybrids and to add to the confusion I have given a few hundred of my seedlings to Maggies herbs in St.Aug a few years ago. They don't label them either. There are a few other nurseries I have given out seedlings to in that area as well, but no where near the amount as the one nursery. On top of that I have sent bags of seedlings to nurseries in Tx, Il, and a few other states. I'm not much of a hybridizer. I just like to put pretty on pretty and hope for something a bit better. I know I will never be able to compete with some of you as you only use named hybrids of known parentage, but I have fun none the less. I believe about 90% of Maggies herbs Brugmansia were my seedlings. Of course I keep trying to drop off better hybrids to these nurseries...Butterfly, Rosabelle, Culebra, etc. Here's hoping they keep those labeled. Dropped of HG and Citronella last year to Maggies as well, but apparently one of their workers is Brug crazzy and took a few home.
Brugman,
Guess the Candida Pink I have is a parent of Kyles pink. I will just call it Candida Pink Hybrid.
Will you post us a pic of your Candida Pink Hybrid, Gloria?
Owen
Brugmansia is HG a good mother plant? or was it better as a pollen plant?
this picture is not Kyle's Pink. sorry.
tiG,
Which one is it?
Owen,
I don't have one yet...it hasn't bloomed.
this is butterfly. I had it marked from the time I got it, but it Butterfly for sure.
Thanks tiG.
