...last seen flying @ 75 mph, increasing to 135 mph.. heading to who knows where...If anyone sees them, please send them back to me. I think they will be blown to Kyles place or something by the time this Hurricane passes ;-)--Hey, gotta keep the humor here or I'll fall apart :-)
Gingers collections...
Oh my.....how bad is it? Why did you not leave? How far are you from Metairie? I will keep a great thought for you Lisa, and for all of your neighbors.
kell, I live in the Houma-Thibodaux area. We are down from Metairie(southwest-along the upper inland coast) just about 20 miles from expected lanfall. It is getting very scary here.

my sister is in Metairie and she didnot leave either! I am a nervous wreck! How is the weather now? My sister said it was too wet to leave so late. I am sure it will be OK. Did they evacuate your town? Is there a tall strong building that is on higher ground htat you can get to?
Hang in there Lisa, u and ur family are so brave. i wished u had evacuated like RR & Mini. i just posted on the prayer forum too.
i have gone through so many natural calamities like this one. the Phil. is the along the typhoon belt area in southeast asia.
i can recall hearing those eerie sounds caused by the strong winds. flying object all over. heavy floodings. such experiences i can still remember in full details.
Keep ur faith and God Bless Lisa and family, also to all those in the path of this calamity.
Kell, your sister should be fine. New Orleans is not expected to get as bad as we are going to get. They are in the outer rims of the storm. They should be having winds of 45+ right now, but they can't take much more rain due last weeks brush with Isidore. Our weather here is quickly failing. We are not in danger of flooding, but expected to get 120+ winds in about an hour or so. We didn't leave because all this time they were saying landfall would be towards TX/LA end and that would have put us far enough away from high winds. At noon the storm started heading towards us and then it turned into a monster, moving fast to a catagory 4. We were very much caught off gaurd. We should be okay with all the rain, we are incircled by a levee and 2 pumps. The winds are my main concern. I hope your sister is doing ok. Maybe she will end up with my gingers!
thank you mavie for the nice words and thinking of us.

Lisa are you OK?
yes, we are doing okay here, counting our blessings.
Lisa, Just to let you know all of us(even the non-posters) are sending blessings and prayers.
aww, thank you desert rose, I have never met you before, thank you so much for caring about us and posting. Thank you. We were so fortunate to be spared as we did.
I kept waiting for the cajun humor to show during the hurricane but I think you have quit doing that.
lisa, did you really lose your gingers????
Lisa, sure glad you are okay. Hope your plants are too, but most can always be replaced. DGers are the best for helping out.
Lisa, I'll be happy to send you any that I have.
My gingers took a serious beating. They are flat, sideways, upside down and some uprooted. Huge oak limbs fell on top of them..(now why did I think it was a good idea to put them in the shade of the oak tree???) But alas, they shall return!!!!
Georgiaredclay ~ I promised you a joke didn't I...hmmmm...suppose I better get crakin and put on my story tellin hat! :-)
Yeah I haven't forgotten. Still waiting.
I can wait until you get straightened out from the cane. It is terrible to have plants and have them broken down. I guess they will grow back. Any thing you need that the cane destroyed or you just want and you see me posting about having let me know.
Yeah Lisa, I know there are lots of folks here that will share anything they have, me included. BTW, how do I divide this Firey Costus?(you wanted a piece of it) It's still blooming. Remember the ginger that made babies on the bloom spike? They are growing eyes and making rhizomes(is that what they are called?)
aww, Jim, you're a sweetie, but I'll be okay, the gingers will all bounce back.
Cala~ yes, rhizomes are what they are called. If you need to divide them at the rhizomes, just go in there and start cutting, take at least 2 inches. Most folks say to let the rhizomes dry up a little bit on the ends to cure, but I never do. If you want Cala, wait until it is finished blooming, it will do that very soon, yall weather should be getting in the 60's soon and they will start to go dormant then.
Thanks Lisa, don't' let me forget, lol.
